Laso, 56, had just finished the first season of a two-year deal. He led Bayern to win the German League and the German Cup titles for just the second time in club history. Laso also led Bayern to a 13-21 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

"Pablo's personal decision was unexpected, but we respect him very much as a coach and as a person and would like to thank him for his work and his great commitment in the past, successful season," Bayern sporting director Marko Pesic said. "We wish Pablo all the best for the future, and he will always be connected to us, and not just because of the double win."

Before coaching Bayern, Laso led Real Madrid between 2011 and 2022 and won two Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles in 2015 and 2018. Under the stewardship of Laso, *Los Blancos* reached seven out of a possible 10 Final Fours, winning six Spanish Leagues, six Spanish Cups and an International Cup. EuroLeague coaches chose Laso as the Alexander Gomelskiy EuroLeague Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.

Tribute to the champs: Dimitris Moraitis

Point guard [Dimitris Moraitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dimitris-moraitis/006544/) joined Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens over the summer as a reserve on a loaded team and, despite putting up some impressive numbers in limited minutes, did not play a major role in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. However, his availability in the Greek League was critical for Coach Ergin Ataman to rest stars like Kostas Sloukas and Jerian Grant when needed. 

Moraitis played a total of 17:01 minutes in seven EuroLeague games this season, his first in the competition. Most of those came in Round 6 on the road at FC Barcelona. He averaged 1.6 points, 0.7 assists and 0.3 steals per game. However, take a look at those on a per-minute basis and you see that Moraitis contributed quite nicely. He was worth 25.88 points, 11.76 assists and 4.70 steals prorated over 40 minutes. For reference’s sake, had he played enough minutes to qualify, Moraitis would have led the league in assists and steals per minute and ranked fourth in scoring!

In the Greek League, Moraitis averaged 4.8 points over 9:17 minutes in 20 games. He scored at least 9 points in three of Panathinaikos’s last six Greek regular-season games, taking on a larger role when the Greens’ stars were logging big minutes in the EuroLeague Playoffs and the lead-up to the Final Four. Even though Moraitis did not dress for any games in the EuroLeague Playoffs or Final Four, his overall contributions earlier in the season, during practices and in domestic action helped Panathinaikos on its road to glory and he deservedly celebrated his first EuroLeague championship with his teammates when the final buzzer in Berlin sounded.

LDLC ASVEL captain Charles Kahudi has signed a one-year contract extension at the club, as well as confirming that he will retire after the 2024-25 season.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne captain Charles Kahudi has renewed his contract at the club for one more year, with the 2024-25 season set to be his last before hanging up his sneakers.

Since Kahudi (1.96 meters, 37 years old) joined ASVEL in the summer of 2015, he has lifted four French League titles and the French Cup on two occasions. Now a veteran presence on the roster, he averaged 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds for ASVEL in 29 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances last season.

Kahudi has played in each of the last five EuroLeague seasons and has career averages of 5.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 138 games. With ASVEL, he also appeared in the BKT EuroCup in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

The Congolese-French small forward had previously played five seasons in the EuroCup, too, suiting up for Le Mans between 2009 and 2014. Kahudi's professional career began back in 2004 when he came through at Cholet, where he stayed for two years. He then moved to ALM Evreux, remaining there between 2006 and 2008, before spending one year with Dijon in 2008-09.

AS Monaco strengthened its frontcourt by signing power forward Vitto Brown to a two-year deal, the club announced Thursday. 

Brown (2.03 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir, where he averaged 13.4 points on 44.3% three-point shooting and 4.6 rebounds in 36 Turkish League games last season. He helped the team reach the semifinals.

Brown started his professional career with the Wisconsin Herd of the G League, and later played for the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, Maine Red Claws and Erie BayHawks. 

His first season in Europe was with Le Mans Sarthe Basket in France and then played for Real Betis Baloncesto in Spain before joining Karsiyaka in 2022. 

Before that, Brown helped the University of Wisconsin Badgers reach the 2015 NCAA Tournament championship game.

Zalgiris Kaunas has completed the signing of [Matt Mitchell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/matthew-mitchell/012622/) on a one-year contract with an option for another season, the club confirmed Thursday morning. 

Mitchell (1.99 meters, 25 years old) shined for Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul in the 2023-24 BKT EuroCup season, averaging 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and an 11.8 PIR in 21 games. In his rookie EuroCup campaign, he helped Besiktas reach the semifinals. Next season will be Mitchell’s first year in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Mitchell made his EuroCup debut in Round 2 and went on to play the remaining 17 regular-season games for Besiktas, posting 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist and an 11.1 PIR as the Turkish side went 9-9 and finished sixth in Group A. In the eighthfinals, the American forward had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in 36 minutes as Besiktas eliminated last year’s champion, Dreamland Gran Canaria. Mitchell built on that performance in the quarterfinals, recording 22 points and 6 rebounds in 26 minutes during Besiktas’s victory against Hapoel Schlomo Tel Aviv.

In Game 1 of the semifinals, Mitchell had 10 points and 4 rebounds, but Besiktas fell 1-0 down in the series by losing 86-74 at Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse. Then, in Game 2, he amassed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal in an 82-71 win as Besiktas leveled the series, though a head injury suffered by Mitchell with 3:57 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter prevented him from featuring in Game 3, which Besiktas ended up losing as Bourg sealed a spot in the EuroCup Finals.

Zalgiris will be hoping that Mitchell can continue his development as he makes the step up to the EuroLeague, having impressed in his first EuroCup season in 2023-24.

After a back-and-forth battle throughout regulation, Real’s Dzanan Musa tied the score at 81-81 and Efes’s Shane Larkin missed a step-back, highly contested three-point shot that would have given the visitors the win. Larkin made up for that miss by forcing a second overtime period from the foul line.

Mario Hezonja was off the mark with an open shot at the end of the first overtime period, with Efes going on to build a 93-102 margin with over 2 minutes left in the second extra period. Then, Real duo Fabien Causeur and Facu Campazzo sparked an 8-0 run that Hezonja capped with a jump hook that completely changed the atmosphere inside WiZink Center. On we went to triple overtime – there was no separating the teams, 102-102.

Walter Tavares later kept Real alive with a dunk and a last-second block that sent the game to a fourth overtime, 111-111. It was already past midnight when Hezonja hit his seventh three-pointer and Musa added a layup that sealed the outcome, 128-122, with 20.6 seconds remaining. Real ended up winning 130-126 after 60 thrilling minutes of basketball.

Real and Efes shattered several records in this game. Each of them broke the previous single-game record for points by any one team, which were the 123 scored by both Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens 15 seasons ago and Maccabi Tel Aviv almost 20 seasons ago. Both teams combined for 256 points, 24 more than any other game before. Musa's 40 points, 15 field goals and 13 two-pointers made were all club records. Larkin and Tibor Pleiss became the first two EuroLeague players ever to surpass 50 minutes played in a game. Larkin now has the record with 53 minutes and 11 seconds on the floor.

Konstantinos Mitoglou felt a great deal of trust and belief from Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens when he came back to the club last summer, and he went on to return it with an outstanding effort and a series of performances that were instrumental in the Greens' return to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague throne.

[Konstantinos Mitoglou](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/konstantinos-mitoglou/007866/) felt a great deal of trust and belief from Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens when he came back to the club last summer and he went on to return it with an outstanding effort and a series of performances that were instrumental in the Greens' return to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague throne.

Mitoglou returned to playing basketball this past season after serving a 16-month doping suspension and he started delivering as soon as he made his season debut in Round 4. Mitoglou scored 11 or more points in 16 of his first 20 appearances, including three double-doubles. He posted 11.9 points and 6.7 rebounds during the regular season, playing almost 29 minutes per game.

The 28-year old power forward went on to produce 9.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in a five-game playoff series against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. He then showed up on the biggest of stages in Berlin's Uber Arena, too. After scoring a season-low just 2 points in the semifinals against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul at the Final Four, he delivered 8 points - including a pair of fourth-quarter three-pointers - in the championship game victory over Real Madrid. And with center Mathias Lessort in foul trouble, Mitoglou had no issue playing at the 'five' position and battling against Walter Tavaes and Vincent Poirier when Coach Ergin Ataman called his name.

A minute earlier, Real Madrid was still within 3 points on the scoreboard. But by the time Dinos Mitoglou his his second three-pointer of the final quarter, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens had its first double-digit lead of the championship game with 2:30 remaining. It was the stamp on the Greens' first title in 13 years, and Mitoglou knew it. "This was the shot," he said. "And you know what I thought about as I was running back on defense: What have I done? It was crazy. Because you live to play those games and to make those shots."

Interestingly, Mitoglou played just 8 minutes in the first three quarters of the championship game, but then spent all but 40 seconds of the fourth on the floor. His second triple opened a 76-86 lead with 2:30 to go, and there was no coming back for Real after that.

It was a turbulent ride like few players have managed to overcome, but at the end of it all, Mitoglou deserved to proudly call himself a EuroLeague champion.

Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade continued its active start to the offseason by signing power forward [Mike Daum](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mike-daum/012786/) for the coming season. Daum (2.06 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Anadolu Efes Istanbul with which he made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut last season. He averaged 9.4 points on outstanding shooting in 11 EuroLeague games. Daum made 76% of his two-pointers, 41.3% of his threes and was perfect in 8 trips to the foul line. He also averaged 8.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in the Turkish League.

It was a short season for Daum, who came to Efes from Derthona Basket during the season. He averaged 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in nine Italian League games, as well as 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in three Basketball Champions League fixtures.

### The early years of Daum’s career

Daum played four seasons of college basketball at South Dakota State University, where he was named an honorable mention All-American by AP in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He became just the 10th player to ever score 3,000 points in NCAA Division I history, a feat he achieved on February 23, 2019.

His first stop as a professional player was at Obradoiro, where he averaged 9.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23 Spanish League games in the 2019-20 season. He then built on those numbers during his second year at Obradoiro in 2020-21, as he posted 9.7 points 4.4 rebounds in 30 Spanish League fixtures.

In the summer of 2021, Daum opted to leave Spain and head to Italy by joining Derthona. In 36 games in his first season in Italy, 2021-22, Daum had career-high numbers of 12.2 points and 5.7 rebounds. In, 2022-23, he saw a bit of a drop, posting 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 32 Italian League games.

The Serbian champion will be his second stop in the EuroLeague
