AS Monaco has confirmed the signing of Nemanja Nedovic, who has penned a one-year deal with the club after leaving KK Crvena zvezda.

[AS Monaco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/as-monaco/mco/) has confirmed the signing of [Nemanja Nedovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nemanja-nedovic/000848/), who has penned a one-year deal with the Monégasque team.

Nedovic (1.92 meters, 34 years old) spent the last three years with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, averaging 9.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27 EuroLeague games last season as the Serbian side reached the Play-In Showdown.

For his career, the Serbian shooting guard has appeared in 229 games and has posted career averages of 12.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. 

After making his EuroLeague debut with Rytas Vilnius in 2012-13, he went on to play in the competition for Valencia Basket (2014-15), Unicaja Malaga (2015-16, 2017-18), EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (2018-20), Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens (2020-22), and Crvena Zvezda (2022-25).

Last season was the first time since 2019-20 that Nedovic averaged a single-digit number of points, as he posted 16.0 ppg. (2020-21) and then 14.3 ppg. (2021-22) in his two seasons with Panathinaikos before averaging 13.3 ppg. (2022-23) and 14.3 ppg. (2023-24) in his first two campaigns with Zvezda.

August 4, 2008, will be a day that lives long in the memory for fans of [EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/ea7-emporio-armani-milan/mil/).

After years of frustration at Milan, Giorgio Armani purchased the Little Red Shoes from Giorgio Corbelli and set about recovering the club’s former glories. Despite dominating in the mid-to-late 1930s, the 1950s, the 1960s, and then the 1980s, Milan had failed to lift the Italian championship or Italian Cup since 1996, while its last EuroLeague title – the third in club history – came in 1988. It was time to make Milan great again.

Success wasn’t instant, but the stability brought by Armani’s ownership laid the foundations for what was to come. Starting in 2013-14, Milan was able to reestablish itself as a force in Italian basketball, claiming six league titles (2013-14, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24), lifting the Italian Cup on four occasions (2015-16, 2016-17, 2020-21, 2021-22), and winning the Italian Super Cup five times (2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2024). Milan was well and truly back.

“It took years of interventions, strategies, and trust to bring back success to the most followed, most loved, and most successful team in Italian basketball,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport in 2024.

In particular, that 2014 league triumph over Siena – capped by [Curtis Jerrells](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/curtis-jerrells/003067/)'s famous shot at the buzzer – stood out for the fashion mogul, having ended Milan’s 18-year wait to become Italian champion once more.

“One of the strongest emotions of my life,” he said, reflecting on that day. “The fans invaded the court laughing, crying, and singing.”

“\[The titles we have won\] are the culmination of work carried out day after day. I am very proud of the team that has worked hard consistently. I like to think that we win in the right way, all together, as the players shout before going onto the court.”

Armani helped amplify Milan on a global scale, too. Back in 2015, the Italian side made history by becoming the first European club to play in an NBA arena against another European team when it took on Maccabi Tel Aviv at Madison Square Garden, the famous home of the New York Knicks. With Armani sitting courtside, European basketball was getting some much deserved (and long-awaited) attention in the United States but also on the old continent.

“There's not enough talk about basketball,” Armani once said. “I have always loved sport, so much so that I have made it an integral part of my work. I believe in the positive power of competitive sport.”

But what was Milan missing? A fourth EuroLeague championship, having previously worn Europe’s crown in 1965-66 before back-to-back triumphs in 1986-87 and 1987-88. In the 2020-21 season, in Ettore Messina’s second year as head coach, a flurry of top-level signings were made including [Gigi Datome](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/luigi-datome/ccd/), [Kyle Hines](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/hines-kyle/002812/), [Shavon Shields](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shavon-shields/007831/), [Zach LeDay](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/zach-leday/008987/), [Kevin Punter](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kevin-punter/009862/) and [Malcolm Delaney](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/malcolm-delaney/004331/). Together with star guard [Sergio Rodriguez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/rodriguez-sergio/cvm/), they set about taking the EuroLeague by storm.

It looked like there would be an immediate return on investment as Milan finished fourth in the regular-season standings with a 21-13 record and then beat FC Bayern Munich to make its long-awaited return to the EuroLeague Final Four, the first time it had reached European basketball’s showpiece event since 1992. But the fairy-tale ending didn’t come as Punter’s missed shot at the buzzer in the semifinal against FC Barcelona allowed the Spaniards to advance to the title decider with an 84-82 victory.

Despite some notable additions over the last few years, namely [Nikola Mirotic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mirotic-nikola/000796/) and the return of [Nicolo Melli](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nicolo-melli/002849/), Milan has not been back since. Coach Messina has retooled his arsenal this summer, but the sudden passing of Mr. Armani on September 4, 2025 – in the club’s 90th anniversary season – has cast a large shadow over the campaign ahead.

“I'm attached to many players and I don't like to single out some over others,” Armani told La Gazzetta dello Sport one year ago. “But among those who no longer play for us, I think of Sergio Rodriguez, who expresses joy, and I'm happy that he won again, and Gigi Datome, whom I admired for the strength with which he decided to retire after winning last year's championship as the best player in the playoffs. I can't fail to mention Nicolo Melli, who arrived when he was very young and has been with us for eight years now \[before leaving for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul\]. He is the soul of the group.”

During his 17-year ownership of Milan, which saw the team lift 15 trophies, La Gazzetta dello Sport estimates that Armani spent around €200 million on the club, a sign of the economic stability he was able to offer. But for Armani, basketball offered him a chance to disconnect from his business ventures and immerse himself in the world of sport.

“I got into basketball because I loved the team, a sport that both my brother Sergio and my sister Rosanna were involved in, and the city of Milan," he said during an interview with the Italian newspaper. “I've never regretted it. Even at the beginning, when we weren't winning. I have always felt the gratitude of the people, especially at games, and I am happy to have a team and a club that reflect our values.”

Just like August 4, 2008, will be fondly remembered by Milan supporters, September 4, 2025, is a day that will carry a heavy heart for everyone associated with the club.

There may be a vacant courtside seat at the Forum this season where Mr. Armani used to sit, but his legacy will live on as the Little Red Shoes carry his spirit across courts in Italy and beyond.

Greece finished atop Group C with a 4-1 record and will face Israel in the EuroBasket Round of 16 on Sunday after holding off defending champion Spain 86-90 in hotly-contested game in Limassol, Cyprus, on Thursday evening. The duo of NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and Olympiacos Piraeus sharpshooter [Tyler Dorsey](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyler-dorsey/009849/) paved the way for Greece.

The result meant that Georgia qualified from Group C, while Spain fell to 2-3 and was eliminated.

Antetokounmpo posted a monster line of 25 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists, while Dorsey finished with 22 points on 6-of-9 three-point shooting, 5 boards and 4 assists. Panathinaikos Athens playmaker [Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/) added 12 points and 6 dimes for Greece. [Jaime Pradilla](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/jaime-pradilla/010393/) of Valencia Basket was Spain’s top scorer with 14 points.

After 7 and a half minutes of basketball, the score was Spain 14, Tyler Dorsey 14 (and Greece 30). Dorsey was inflicting damage by draining shot after shot – including one directly from an assist from Antetokounmpo. The sniper from the corner threw off the Spanish defense and helped create space for Antetokounmpo to operate with more freedom in the paint.

Despite Greece’s big early lead, Spain rallied late and led in the fourth quarter. Dorsey made key contributions late with a tip-in to tie go ahead 75-77 and then a rebound that triggered a transition bucket from Panathinaikos’s Panos Kalaitzakis. He also drew a foul while boxing out Pradilla to end another Spanish possession.

The final minutes would be tense, but after Sloukas put Greece up 84-88 with a minute remaining, Spain missed 7 free throws in the final 15 seconds to see its chances to advance disappear.

Beyond basketball, Armani was a towering figure in global culture. He founded the Armani brand in 1975, revolutionizing the fashion industry and later expanding into entertainment, sport, and luxury hospitality. The promising players have come up through the club’s youth academy and now will test themselves at the top level under Coach Oded Kattash.

Sahar (1.94 meters, 18 years old) is a talented and daring guard known for his shooting ability and energy. He spent last season with Maccabi Tel Aviv Shoham in the Israeli third division. Sahar started for Israel over the summer at the U19 World Championship, where ranked sixth with 17.7 points per game. His older brother [Dori Sahar](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dori-sahar/007679/) played for Maccabi during the 2020-21 season. Oren will wear jersey #7.

Gold (2.04 meters, 18 years old) is a long, athletic forward. Last season he averaged 13.2 points on 61% two-point shooting and 43.8% three-point shooting plus 6.2 rebounds in the Israeli youth league. He also played a key role in Maccabi winning the State Cup for juniors. Gold also played for Israel at the U19 World Championship and posted 7.7 points on 50% shooting from three-point range. He is the son of Shiri Gold, a former Israeli national team player and the current director of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s girls and women’s division. Gold will wear jersey #13.

Vote for the best All-EuroLeague First Team in history: 2024 vs. 2004

After weeks of thrilling head-to-head battles, only eight teams remain in the running for the crown.

Each season, the top five players in Europe’s premier basketball competition are recognized with All-EuroLeague First Team honors. Over the past quarter century, these elite lineups have featured some of the sport’s brightest stars and biggest legends. This summer, we’ve brought them all together in a special bracket to answer one ultimate question: *Which All-EuroLeague First Team stands above the rest?*

From the original 24 teams seeded by our panel of EuroLeague experts, just eight are left. Now, it’s time to decide who advances to the championship matchup.

This matchup really shows the difference between the two eras represented. The 2024 team is faster and more athletic, the 2004 side is stronger with an incredible high basketball IQ. For the most part these teams matchup well with three-guard lineups. At forward, Hayes-Davis has a big offensive edge against Turkcan, while at the other end Turkcan might be able to overpower Hayes-Davis. Unfortunately for Lessort, few big men have ever been able to slow down Sabonis, who makes everyone on the 2004 side better.

If they played, I think that 2004 would have a huge rebounding edge, which would enable it to control the game. Team 2024 would need Nunn, James and Hayes-Davis to light it up from deep to have a realistic chance. That’s my opinion at least.

When I asked my AI assistants, they agreed. One had 2024 winning 90-82 with Arvydas Sabonis posting 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks. EuroBasket 2025: Larkin, Turkiye down Serbia 

In arguably the best game at EuroBasket 2025 so far, Turkiye claimed first place in Group A by downing Serbia 85-90 in Riga, Latvia. Both teams were undefeated before the game. Turkiye is set to play Sweden in the Round 16, in which Serbia will face Finland. Panathinaikos AKTOR head coach [Ergin Ataman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/panathinaikos-aktor-athens/pan/ataman-ergin/)'s team finished the game with 27 points and 11 assists, and Anadolu Efes Istanbul star point guard [Shane Larkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shane-larkin/007200/) had to do a lot with that. 

Larkin had his best game in the tournament, finishing it with 23 points, 9 assists and no turnovers. He was the perfect counterpoint to Alperen Sengun, who barely missed a triple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Larkin found the way to be effective throughout the game. He fired in 4 of 5 three-pointers on his way to collect 12 points and 6 assists before the break. Far from being done, Larkin went to the foul line and found a couple of backdoor layups to round a truly all-around performance. Serbia tried to surprise Turkiye by placing Jokic and another center, Nikola Milutinov of Olympiacos, together on court, but Larkin always found the right rhythm and took good decisions on offense to lead Turkiye to an important victory. 

Jokic led Serbia with 22 points. [Marko Guduric](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/marko-guduric/004004/) of EA7 Emporio Armani Mialn added 12 and [Filip Petrusev](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/filip-petrusev/011194/) of Dubai Basketball had 11 for Serbia. Added to Bogdan Bogdanovic's absence, [Vasilije Micic ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/vasilije-micic/002580/)of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and [Aleksa Avramovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/aleksa-avramovic/003983/) of Dubai saw limited playing time due to respective physical problems. It went all down to the final minute with Serbia leading 89-90. Sengun and Larkin made free throws, Jokic missed a highly-contested shot from downtown, then Sengun sealed the win from the foul line.

For EuroLeague fans, it was the first opportunity to see Larkin go against Micic after being Efes teammates for five seasons. Larkin and Micic made history with Efes along with Coach Ataman, winning back-to-back EuroLeague titles in 2021 and 2022, as well as reaching another Championship Game in 2019. Only time will tell if Larkin and Micic cross paths again at EuroBasket 2025. If not, the next time they go against each other on a basketball court should be on October 3, when Efes faces Hapoel in Round 2 of the EuroLeague regular season. 

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul has signed American big man Armando Bacot for the 2025–26 season, the club announced on Wednesday

Fenerbahce finds frontcourt fix in Armando Bacot

[Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul/roster/ulk/) has signed American big man Armando Bacot for the 2025–26 season, the club announced on Wednesday.

Bacot (2.08 meters, 25 years old) arrives from the Memphis Hustle, where he made his professional debut during the 2024-25 season. He averaged 16.8 points and 9.5 rebounds over 50 games with Memphis. The big man ranked ninth in the league in rebounds.

At Fenerbahce, Bacot will help fill the void created by the injury that Jilson Bango suffered recently at AfroBasket 2025.

A five-year contributor at the University of North Carolina, Bacot helped the Tar Heels reach the 2022 NCAA Championship Game and graduated as the program’s all-time leader in rebounds and double-doubles. His 1,715 rebounds rank ninth in NCAA Division I history.

Bacot has also represented his native United States internationally. He helped the USA win the gold medal at the U18 FIBA AmeriCup in 2018 in Canada.

The move marks Bacot’s first experience in European basketball as he joins a Fenerbahce squad looking to defend its domestic and continental titles under head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.
