Having avoided major surgery, the 29-year-old now has to rest up for a few days before starting to return to basketball activity.

“Diego Flaccadori has undergone a marginally invasive cardiology procedure, that was scheduled, following which he will be required to rest for a few days before gradually returning to activity, Olimpia Milan announced today,” the club confirmed in a statement on its website.

Flaccadori has made just one appearance in the EuroLeague so far this season, which came during Milan’s Round 13 win at Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv just before this set of international fixtures.

Bitim suffered the injury on Friday in a game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with detailed examinations later confirming an ankle ligament tear which will keep him out indefinitely.

Bitim has appeared in 12 games this season, all off the bench, and in limited minutes has averaged 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds for the defending champs, who are on a five-game winning streak and have an 8-5 record.

The 26-year-old forward joined Fenerbahce in November 2024 and signed a deal until the end of 2027-28 season, but spent last season on loan at FC Bayern Munich.

Fantasy tips, Round 14: back after a small break

After a rare eight-day gap without EuroLeague games, action resumes with Round 14, and that is another opportunity for EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge managers to continue climbing in the standings - and gain wins in the Trophy Cup. There is just one win between the top-ranked and ninth-place teams and with parity like that, anything can happen. I have some ideas that should improve your teams, but first, let's take a look at my recommendations from last week.

As always, there were good and bad picks. Theo Maledon of Real Madrid heavily underperformed against Hapoel and caused his fantasy managers to lose 0.5 credits. Bad move. Ercan Osmani of Anadolu Efes Istanbul had 10 fantasy points and his value did not change, so I will call it even. Armoni Brooks of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan had 22 fantasy points, pushing his value half a credit up. Well done! Kobi Simmons of Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz has 12 points and his value went slightly up 0.1 credits. Hey, it made people get money, so I am calling it a win. And Azuolas Tubelis of Zalgiris Kaunas did not have the same numbers as in previous weeks, but his 11 fantasy points saw him keep his value. So two good picks, two average and a bad one.

I don't know, fantasy managers out there. Give me one more week and if I don't get at least three wins, I will make someone else write this column. Deal? I am using a bigger budget this time to avoid being replaced. Here are five fantasy recommendations for Round 14:

### Shavon Shields, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (14.7 credits)

My superstar of choice this week. He plays against Baskonia, his first EuroLeague team, at Buesa Arena. [Shavon Shields](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shavon-shields/007831/) comes off a fantastic performance with 42.9 fantasy points, which earned 1.1 credits for the lucky managers who were ahead of the curve. My guess is that Shields will keep rolling in Round 14.

### Kostas Sloukas, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens (12.8 credits)

Where do I start? [Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/) is averaging 5.5 assists and just 0.9 turnovers this season. That's a crazy assist-to-turnover ratio of 5.92. He had at least a PIR of 14 in his last five games despite a poor three-point percentage for his great standards (31.8%). His PIR average in that period is 17.2!

EuroLeague Fantasy tips: Round 14

### Sterling Brown, Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade (11.3 credits) 

It was a difficult week for Partizan with a very sub-par second half against Panathinaikos, but [Sterling Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sterling-brown/012720/) keeps posting good numbers. In the last three games, Brown has averaged 21.0 points and a PIR of 19.7. Partizan could bounce back against Bayern and needs Brown to bring his A-game, and that's what I expect.

### Derek Willis, Paris Basketball (9.2 credits)

We have to have at least one or two recommendations under 10.0 credits, right? Where is the fun of just picking superstars? [Derek Willis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/derek-willis/009664/) has been amazing lately, and posted career-highs of 22 points and a PIR of 27 against Dubai in Round 14. Paris travels to Monaco, and that's a great opportunity for him to keep going.

### Matt Morgan, Virtus Bologna (8.9 credits)

Slowly but steadily, [Matt Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/matthew-morgan/012585/) has proved he has a lot of fantasy value. He has scored in double digits in Virtus's last five games and seven of the last eight. In the last three games, Morgan has averaged 15.0 points and a PIR of 16.0 despite playing only 18 minutes per game. Keep a good eye on him.

Valencia Basket has confirmed that Ethan Happ is departing the club after rescinding his contract.

[Valencia Basket](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/valencia-basket/pam/) has confirmed that [Ethan Happ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ethan-happ/009864/) is departing the club after rescinding his contract.

Happ has been out with a foot injury since October 2024. After joining Valencia in the summer of 2024, he made just five appearances for the club in the BKT EuroCup last season, which came between Rounds 1 and 5.

Now, the decision has been made for Happ and Valencia to part ways.

"American center Ethan Happ, who holds a North Macedonian passport, has left Valencia Basket after terminating the contract that bound the two parties until June 30, 2026," read Valencia's statement.

"The player joined our team from Dreamland Gran Canaria in the summer of 2024 and was only able to play in 10 games between the Spanish League and the BKT EuroCup with the orange jersey until the end of October 2024. Since then, he has been sidelined due to a foot injury, and the final stage of his recovery has taken place away from Valencia, where he has not returned.

"The Club would like to thank Happ for his professionalism and hard work during his time defending the colors of Valencia Basket, and wishes him all the best in his future, both professionally and personally."

### Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. Real Madrid (18:15 CET)

Efes (5-8) will look for a return to winning ways under interim coach Radovan Trifunovic with a visit from Real (7-6). The Spanish team has won its last two games by exactly 1 point, and will hope that Mario Hezonja can continue his return to form which yielded 19 points at Hapoel last week. Efes will want to show its fans some pride after a 36-point battering against Monaco in Round 13, and must show much better discipline after committing 23 turnovers in that defeat. Jordan Loyd will attempt to continue carrying more of the scoring load after netting double digits in three of the last four games, while Real’s leading scorer Trey Lyles (14.2 points per game) is targeting a return to form after going scoreless from the field last week.

### Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv (19:00 CET)

Zalgiris (8-5) will attempt to maintain its excellent form in Kaunas against a Maccabi team (3-10) aiming to climb away from last place. Maccabi is the third-best offensive rebounding team in the league over the course of the season, but the absence of both TJ Leaf and Jaylen Hoard has diminished that threat in the last couple of games. The backcourt features an exciting matchup between two explosive scorers as former Zalgiris shooter Lonnie Walker (14.3 points per game) attempts to outperform current home team hero Sylvain Francisco (16.9 points and 7.3 assists per night). Roman Sorkin is another threat to the hosts after averaging 16.2 points in the last five games, but Zalgiris will count on Ignas Brazdeikis maintaining his recent upturn in form as it chases a fifth straight home victory.

### AS Monaco vs. Paris Basketball (19:30 CET)

A French League derby will see Monaco (8-5) attempt to strengthen its position near the top of the standings against a Paris team (5-8) seeking a turnaround in road fortunes. A highlight will be the backcourt battle between two of the league’s most prolific scorers as Mike James faces Nadir Hifi, who will need to be at his best to give Paris a first road victory since October. One key will be Monaco’s ability to limit the visitors' league-best offensive rebounding (16.3 per night), so Daniel Theis and Kevarrius Hayes – going up against his former team – will have a big task in protecting their backboard. Monaco leads the league in assist-turnover ratio, so Paris will hope its pace and athleticism can disrupt the host’s usual rhythm.

### Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv vs. LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (20:05 CET)

It’s first against last as Hapoel (9-4) welcomes an ASVEL team (3-10) determined to cause an upset. Hapoel is the competition’s leading scorer (90.7 points per game), partly thanks to the consistency of Elijah Bryant (14.8 points per night), while the French team ranks last with an average of just 75.8 points. ASVEL gave a strong performance despite suffering defeat at Barcelona last week as Nando De Colo made a sparkling return to action after injury with 22 points and 9 assists, and his connection with big man Bodian Massa (10 points and 9 boards last week) will be a threat to the hosts' defense. Hapoel is seeking a swift return to winning ways after losing to Real last week, and will look for more offensive fluidity after managing just 12 assists in that game.

### Olympiacos Piraeus vs. Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (20:15 CET)

A battle of title contenders will see Olympiacos (8-5) and red-hot Fenerbahce (8-5) battle to break their current tie for a share of fourth place. The Reds have won four straight games in Piraeus but will be eager to quickly banish the mental demons of last week’s late collapse at Zvezda, where the latest masterclass from Sasha Vezenkov (29 points and 8 rebounds) wasn’t enough to prevent defeat. Fenerbahce will look to smother the home team’s usual offensive rhythm through its disciplined defense, which has excelled recently by holding opponents to just 72.2 points per game during its ongoing five-game winning run. Offensively, the Turkish team needs for Olympiacos star Wade Baldwin to continue providing leadership after netting double-digit points in scoring in eight of the last nine games.

### Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade vs. FC Bayern Munich (20:45 CET)

Partizan (4-9) begins life after Zeljko Obradovic by seeking a return to winning ways against another team struggling for form, Bayern (5-8). The Serbian team must address its bad habit of allowing opponents to mount major runs, while Bayern is looking for an improvement in long-range shooting after making just 31.6% of its three-point attempts so far. The German team has lost four games straight and failed to score 75 points in any of those games. Last week’s loss at Valencia saw only Spencer Dinwiddie reach double digits, and it’s clear that Bayern must sharpen up against a Partizan team which will surely give a strong reaction following a tumultuous week. In the high-pressure situation, the experience of Nick Calathes will be important in allowing the home players to control their emotions.

Recently appointed Barca coach Xavi Pascual savored his first win with a battling performance against ASVEL last week, and he will be looking to instill his trademark defensive toughness to disrupt the influence of Zvezda playmaker Codi Miller-McIntyre (10 points and 9 assists in last week’s dramatic win over Olympiacos) and fit-again Jordan Nwora (19.4 points per game). Scoring star Kevin Punter hit form for Barca last time out with 24 points and 7 assists, and this week he’ll attempt to quieten the home crowd by outshining Zvezda newcomer Devonte' Graham, who impressed with 9 points and 4 assists on his debut against Olympiacos.

### Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens vs. Valencia Basket (20:15 CET)

In another high stakes' matchup, red-hot Panathinaikos (9-4) aims to extend its winning run to five games with a visit from dangerous Valencia (8-5). It should be a high-scoring thriller between the second and fourth ranked offenses in the league, averaging 89.5 and 89.0 points per game respectively. Visiting backcourt leader Darius Thompson has the unenviable task of controlling reigning MVP Kendrick Nunn, who continued another outstanding season by draining 26 points in last week’s rout of Partizan. That game also featured another dynamic performance in the paint from Kenneth Faried, so Valencia big man Matt Costello will look to use his shooting range to pull his opponent into uncomfortable territory. The visitors will also hope for another big night for Brancou Badio, who has scored 16 points in both the last two games.

### Virtus Bologna vs. Dubai Basketball (20:30 CET)

Virtus (6-7) will attempt to maintain its 100% home record against direct rival Dubai (6-7). The visiting team has so far recorded just one road win, but boosted its confidence by narrowly overcoming Paris at home last week as McKinley Wright recovered his best form with 24 points, while Justin Anderson will also be looking to build on his best performance of the season after netting 12 points. Virtus was narrowly edged out at Fenerbahce last week, and chief scorer Carsen Edwards will be determined to get back on track after going 0-of-8 for three-pointers in that loss. The Italian team has seen center Momo Diouf grow in importance in recent weeks, and he’ll look to confirm that growth by dominating dangerous Dubai big man Filip Petrusev.

### Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz vs. EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (20:30 CET)

The round closes with Baskonia (4-9) looking to narrow the gap on the all-important top 10 with a visit from Milan (7-6). The Spanish team has roared to four consecutive games at Buesa Arena, with the relentless scoring of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot complemented by an upturn in form for dynamic guard Kobi Simmons (double-digits scoring in four straight games). Milan coach Peppe Poeta started his permanent reign with a good win at Maccabi last week, and Shavon Shields arrives to face his former club in top form after going for 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in that win. There are no shortage of rapidly developing storylines across the league, and that has ushered in some major changes to the individual efficiency leaderboards. 

The table above lists this season’s most efficient scorers in points per possession among the 39 players using over 12 possessions per game. While [Sasha Vezenkov](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sasha-vezenkov/003469/) has been a mainstay on these lists since he ascended as a star for Olympiacos during the 2020-21 season, he is the last long-term staple still standing as this season has marked a changing of the guard among the league’s more productive and efficient scorers.

[Filip Petrusev](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/filip-petrusev/011194/) may be establishing himself as a staple in his own right this season for Dubai Basketball. After finishing fourth in the EuroLeague by averaging 1.15 points per possession a year ago, he has set a tremendous pace this one scoring at a strong rate in the post, providing a reliable target rolling to the rim, and looking more opportunistic attacking from the perimeter as well. He has formed an imposing duo with [Mfiondu Kabengele](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mfiondu-kabengele/012796/), whose impact on the glass and physicality inside have made him brutally effective at the rim in his first season competing in the EuroLeague. While some of their productivity can be traced to the absence of Dzanan Musa, Dubai has been able to rely on its frontcourt for efficient production to keep it afloat through a challenging stretch of its first EuroLeague campaign.

They are joined in the top six by two of the most improved players in recent EuroLeague history in [Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/timothe-luwawu-cabarrot/012080/) of Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Jordan Nwora of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade. Luwawu Cabarrot averaged in double figures last season but has so far managed to nearly double his scoring average and elevate his efficiency this one, finding a consistency from beyond the arc that had eluded until now. He has been tremendously reliable with his feet set thus far, not just as a floor spacer, but running off screens as well. Nwora’s quick bounce back from injury was key in Zvezda’s Round 13 win over Olympiacos and representative of his year on the whole—he’s scored in bunches getting downhill to the rim and been extremely difficult to stop when he finds his range from the perimeter on top of that. He’s relished the opportunity to play a feature role this season after functioning as a role player last one.

Veteran [Shavon Shields](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shavon-shields/007831/) may not be quite the staple Sasha Vezenkov has been on these lists, but he’s no stranger either as his continued growth as a shooter in his late 20s has taken his game to another level. His consistency on and off the ball has been a steadying factor for an EA7 Emporio Armani Milan team that seems to have hit its stride recently, winning five of its last six games and climbing into the top five in overall offensive efficiency. 

[Elijah Bryant](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/elijah-bryant/009846/)’s ability to exploit the spacing of Hapoel’s ball screen-heavy offensive and dead-eye shooting at the line, [Sterling Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/sterling-brown/012720/)’s assertiveness with the ball in his hands for Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, and [Chima Moneke](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/chima-moneke/012201/)’s knack for creating opportunities for himself in transition and as a cutter have helped them nab spots on in the top 10.

[Nando De Colo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nando-de-colo/002100/) is perhaps the most interesting name on this list, on pace for one of the best offensive seasons of his illustrious career. The 38-year-old has had plenty of efficient stretches, averaging 1.11 points per possession during his Most Valuable Player campaign during the 2015-16 season, but he’s nearly matched that consistency this year, remaining a dangerous scorer on and off the ball while shooting an absurd 46 for 46 from the line.

With very little decided this season, it will be interesting to see how this list evolves as the season barrels towards its mid-point.

After all, Zeljko Obradovic did not change his mind. The nine-time EuroLeague champion is, indeed, leaving the bench of Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade after the announcement on the club website on Saturday afternoon.

Zeljko Obradovic and Partizan officially part ways

After all, Zeljko Obradovic did not change his mind.

Obradovic first tendered his resignation on Wednesday, following a heavy 22-point defeat to Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens that left Partizan 18th in the EuroLeague standings with a 4–9 record. In his [letter to Partizan fans](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/zeljko-obradovic-resigns-as-partizan-head-coach/), he described the move as an "irrevocable resignation."

Initially the club confirmed the coach's resignation, but the morning after the club board refused to accept his decision, hoping the nine-time EuroLeague champion could be persuaded to reconsider.

The Partizan fans were not losing hope either, and thousands gathered to give their beloved head coach a [spontaneous hero's welcome](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/zelko-obradovic-receives-heros-welcome-as-partizans-fans-and-board-rally-behind-him/) at Belgrade airport on Thursday afternoon.

The signs that Obradovic might return to the bench seemed to be there. However, despite a long meeting with the club board on Friday, the 65-year old Obradovic ended up not changing his mind.

"The significance, in basketball sense and symbolically, that Zeljko Obradovic has for Partizan and for global basketball is unmeasurable. The void he is leaving will be hard to fill. The door will always be open for Zeljko Obradovic to return to Partizan, and Partizan will always be his home," said the press release which officially brings an end to Obradovic's second spell at Partizan.

He started his coaching career there in 1991, making an abrupt jump to coaching after spending seven years as a player, and guiding Partizan to its only EuroLeague title in 1992.

Obradovic made a legendary return to the club in 2021, and was at the helm as Partizan marked its return to the EuroLeague in 2022. That season, with Mathias Lessort, Kevin Punter and Dante Exum on the floor, the team reached the EuroLeague Playoffs and went to Game 5 against the eventual champion Real Madrid.

However, Partizan narrowly missed out on the postseason in both of the last two seasons, ending each with an identical 16-18 mark. Losses in seven of the last eight games of the current 2025-26 campaign have dropped Partizan near the bottom of the standings.

The team will have a chance to stop its losing skid on Thursday night when it welcomes FC Bayern Munich, however, with a new man in as head coach.
