LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne strengthened its perimeter rotation with the signing of experienced swingman [Braian Angola](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/braian-angola/010465/) for the rest of the 2025–26 campaign. 

Angola (1.98 meters, 31 years old) arrives in France after opening the season with Gran Canaria, where he averaged 8.8 points in 15 Spanish League games and added 13.2 points and 3.3 assists across six Basketball Champions League appearances.

The Colombian swingman brings scoring versatility, playmaking instincts and a proven track record across multiple European competitions. Before his stint in Spain this season, he posted strong numbers in 2024–25 with Turk Telekom Ankara, averaging 16.1 points on 40.4% three‑point shooting along with 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals in the EuroCup. His productive run in Turkiye followed a season with Hapoel Tel Aviv. He helped both Turk Telekom and Hapoel reach the EuroCup Quarterfinals.

Angola has been a well‑travelled and adaptable presence in Europe since leaving the G League in 2019, building a résumé that includes time with Oostende in Belgium, Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, Ironi Nes Ziona and Hapoel in Israel, AEK Athens in Greece, Gran Canaria in Spain and Turk Telekom, Galatasaray Istanbul and Pinar Karsiyaka in Turkiye.

Now, by joining ASVEL, Angola will play in the EuroLeague for the first time. He adds depth, shot‑creation and valuable experience on the wings for the French powerhouse, which recently lost star guard Nando De Colo, when he made a midseason move to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.

A shootout between Virtus Bologna’s Carsen Edwards and Fenerbahce’s Talen Horton-Tucker ended with the reigning champions grinding out an 80-85 win Wednesday night in Bologna. Edwards poured in 35 points in defeat – one shy of his career high – but Horton-Tucker’s career-best 28 proved decisive for a shorthanded Fenerbahce. Virtus led 47-40 at halftime, but Fenerbahce clamped down defensively in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 13-25 to take a 60-65 lead into the fourth, where the teams scored 20 points apiece.

Playing without six rotation players, including starting point guard Wade Baldwin, Fenerbahce leaned heavily on Horton-Tucker, who also knocked down a career-high 4 three-pointers. Tarik Biberovic added all 15 of his points after halftime, while Nando De Colo chipped in 12. Edwards led all scorers with 35 for Virtus, with Derick Alston Jr. and Matt Morgan contributing 14 points each. The win lifted Fenerbahce to 15–7 on the season, while Virtus fell to 11–12, suffering just its third home loss of the campaign.

Olympiacos grabbed its sixth victory in seven games by defeating Maccabi 100-93 at Peace and Friendship Stadium on Tuesday evening. Sasha Vezenkov netted 15 first-quarter points, with the hosts taking a 27-24 lead after 10 minutes. Olympiacos went on a 20-0 run in the second quarter, with Evan Fournier bagging 12 points for a 58-34 advantage at halftime.

Maccabi fought back in the second half and trimmed the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter, but Olympiacos was in control until the final whistle, hitting the 100-mark for the second game in a row. Having recorded its seventh straight victory against Maccabi, Olympiacos improved its record to 14-8. The visitors suffered their fourth consecutive loss on the road, dropping to 9-14.

Vezenkov led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. Nikola Milutinov paired his 13 points with 9 rebounds and Fournier registered 12 points and 9 assists. Roman Sorkin paced Maccabi with 21 points and Jeff Dowtin netted 15 – of which 14 were scored in the second half.

After a hard-fought, physical showdown that came down to the final minute, Hapoel remained atop the standings by downing Anadolu Efes Istanbul 71-66 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Hapoel improved to 16-6 with its third consecutive victory. Meanwhile, Efes lost its seventh in a row and dropped to 6-17.  

Chris Jones led the winners with 16 points, Ish Wainright added 13 and Elijah Bryant scored 12 for Hapoel. Saben Lee netted 20 points for Efes, which led 35-45 early in the second half. PJ Dozier added 15 and Ercan Osmani had 10 for the visitors. With the game tied at 62-62, Chris Jones followed a fastbreak layup with a critical three-pointer that gave Hapoel a 67-63 lead with 24.4 seconds left. Jones added a pair of free throws to seal the outcome down the stretch.

Crvena Zvezda took down the hottest team in the EuroLeague by beating Monaco 96-100 in overtime, as Jordan Nwora – who was 0-for-4 from deep through four quarters – hit two three-pointers to start the extra session (92-96) before Nikola Kalinic put the icing on the cake with a fastbreak layup (93-100). On Sasa Obradovic’s first return to Monaco since being appointed Crvena Zvezda head coach in October, he was able to exact some revenge against his former employer. Donatas Motiejunas, on loan at Crvena Zvezda from Monaco, finished with 9 points.

The star man for the Serbian side, however, was Ebuka Izundu. In 21 minutes, the EuroLeague rookie posted the first double-double of his career with 22 points and 12 rebounds, good for a PIR of 36 – all of which are career highs. Nwora added 18 points in the victory, Semi Ojeleye poured in 16, Codi Miller-McIntyre paired 8 points with 11 assists, and Chima Moneke had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Monaco was led by the 19 points of Alpha Diallo, followed by Mike James with 14, Elie Okobo and Jaron Blossomgame with 13 apiece, and Nikola Mirotic with 10.

A couple of monster runs early in each half put Zalgiris out of sight as the Lithuanian side improved to 13-10 while ASVEL dropped to 6-17 after a fourth successive loss. Zalgiris opened the game with a 2-17 streak before the French team responded with a 12-0 run of their own, slashing the deficit to 41-45 at halftime. 

Driven by the unstoppable big man Moses Wright, Zalgiris romped to a 2-18 streak in the third quarter to take an unassailable 55-75 lead ahead of the final 10 minutes. Zalgiris hit top gear and coasted to 59-86 in the closing stages as ASVEL had no reply for the visiting team’s free-flowing offense garnished by a flurry of fast break.

Frenchman Sylvain Francisco paced the visitors with 20 points and 6 boards while Wright chipped in with 18 and 6. Azoulas Tubelis added 14 points as Zalgiris sank 25-of-35 from inside (71.4 percent). At the other end, Thomas Heurtel stood out for ASVEL with a game-high 21 points and 6 assists and Edwin Jackson scored 13.

The Greens opened up a double-digit lead at the end of the opening quarter and never really looked back, swarming Baskonia on defense and punishing the visitors on the other end with confident shooting.

In the most compelling narrative of the night, Vassilis Toliopoulis led the way for Ergin Ataman’s men, adding 5 assists to his 21-point scoring performance. The breakout performance was particularly impressive, given his 1.5 point season average. Kostas Sloukas added 15 points for the winners, Richaun Holmes scored 12 and Alexandros Samodurov netted a career-high 11. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot paced Baskonia with 17 points.

Wenyen Gabriel paced Bayern with 13 points, Justinian Jessup scored 12 and Neno Dimitrijevic 10 for the hosts, who were without last-minute scratch Andreas Obst. It all came down to the final 4 minutes, in which Isaac Bonga and Tonye Jekiri stepped up to give Partizan a 58-67 lead already in the final minute. Bayern kept fighting but Partizan left Munich with the road victory.

The home team burst into an early double-digit advantage behind an electric Kam Taylor, and led by as many as 14 before Paris rallied to narrow the margin, 50-42, at halftime. A strong start to the third quarter looked like giving Valencia a comfortable win, and although Paris pulled it back to a single digit deficit inside the last few minutes there was never a serious threat of a comeback.

Taylor was outstanding throughout on his way to a career-high 28 points, while Neal Sako provided 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Jean Montero orchestrated the offense with 9 points and 8 assists. Paris was paced by 14 points and 9 assists from Justin Robinson, while Jeremy Morgan added 12. The win keeps Valencia near the top of the standings at 15-8, while Paris remains in the bottom half with a 7-15 record.

The win gives Barcelona a 15-8 record. including a 9-3 mark at home. Brizuela finished with 25 points and 4 assists while Kevin Punter had 20 points. Dubai has struggled all season to win away from home in falling to 10-13 overall and 2-10 on the road. McKinley Wright scored a career-high 29 points to go with 5 assists while Mfiondu Kabengele had 13 points.

Valencia Basket play-caller Pedro Martinez made club history on Tuesday night, overtaking Miki Vukovic as the coach with the most games in charge of the Taronjas – and he marked the occasion in style with an important and convincing win over Paris Basketball, 98-84.

The Spanish side’s outstanding season had been in danger of stuttering after suffering consecutive defeats against AS Monaco and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, so there was a fair degree of pressure on Martinez and his men as they prepared to face a dangerous Paris team which ranked second in the league in scoring.

Any nerves were settled very early on, though, as Valencia raced into a 15-2 lead in the opening three minutes and 20 seconds, propelled by a trio of players whose dominance would continue throughout the game: [Kam Taylor](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kameron-taylor/011217/) netted 6 of those early points, [Neal Sako](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/neal-sako/010545/) added 4, and [Jean Montero](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jean-montero/010042/) complemented 4 assists with a three-pointer that forced visiting coach Francesco Tabellini into a very early timeout.

The fast start set the tone for the rest of the game, which saw Valencia lead from start to finish and spend most of the game sitting pretty on a series of double-digit advantages. Paris never seriously threatened to get back into the game, even after the hosts lost a lot of their earlier rhythm in a fragmented second half mostly marked by free throws.

Taylor continued to shine as he finished with a career-high 28 points on 8-of-13 field goal shooting plus a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line, ensuring that the outcome was effectively decided long before the final buzzer.

The home team’s intense defense also played a big part in that, too, especially with Paris sharpshooter [Nadir Hifi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/) – the league’s leading scorer – restricted to a rare quiet night as he netted just 8 points, going 0-of-4 from beyond the three-point line.

Martinez underlined that all-round effort after the game, telling EuroLeague TV: “We played good defense for more time than not, and we played with good rhythm and good defense against Nadir \[Hifi\], who is one of the best players in Europe.”

The veteran coach, who is in his second spell with Valencia after returning to the East Coast club at the start of last season, received a commemorative framed jersey before the game, honoring his 232 games in charge of the team.

That tally takes him to the top of the club’s all-time list ahead of Vukovic, who coached Valencia between 1995 and 2000, winning the 1998 Spanish Cup and helping to establish the team as a serious player on the European stage.

In his usual understated manner, though, Martinez did not want to dwell for too long on his personal achievement as he said: “I’m very happy for this \[coaching record\] because surpassing a legend like Miki is an honor for me and I’m very happy to be coaching this club. But we need to live in the present, not the past or the future, and the present is another game on Thursday.”

That same message has obviously been drummed into Martinez’s players, because star performer Taylor also insisted his attention was turning immediately to Thursday’s trip to FC Bayern Munich, commenting: “We definitely needed this one and I’m proud of the way the guys came out and finished the game off.

“I’ll be happy for a couple of hours, but we’ve got another game in a couple of days against Munich, so the focus is on that.”

For the visitors it was another tough loss to take, leaving the French team six wins adrift of the playoff places with few signs of a sudden surge up the standings.

And Coach Tabellini was making no excuses, admitting the better team won as he said: “We have another game in 48 hours and we will get back, stick together, and play better basketball.

“Our opponents were outstanding. They had a tremendous performance from the beginning, and we were not able to match the level of intensity they showed from the first minute.”

Struggling to match Valencia’s intensity has been a recurring problem for teams across Europe this season, and much of the credit for that must go to Martinez’s coaching. On this occasion, whether he wants them or not, the headlines belong to him.

From the opening tip, the defensive course correction was unmistakable. Four days after conceding 104 points to Olympiacos Piraeus, Partizan held Bayern scoreless for more than 5 minutes in the first quarter. After a 5–3 start, triples by Payne, Dylan Osetkowski, and Sterling Brown fueled a 0-15 avalanche that flipped the game’s tone and stake; after 10 minutes, the visitors led 7-18, having forced hurried shots and 5 turnovers in a near‑perfect defensive frame.

Bayern regrouped in the second quarter. With Andreas Obst sidelined by flu‑like symptoms, Justinian Jessup stepped forward for 8 points, trimming the deficit to 30–34 by halftime. "I think we played a solid game. We had problems with our turnovers, but I think we played consistent defense, controlled the pace and I think we deserve to win the game," Penarroya said. "I am happy because I think the players understand the kind of game we needed to play today for a win, and at the end we achieved an important victory."

The victory halts Partizan’s longest losing streak since 2012 and marks a milestone for Penarroya — his first EuroLeague win since taking charge. The team remains in Munich for a designated home date against Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv on Friday, while Bayern hosts Valencia Basket at SAP Garden on Thursday.

“We’re just trying to take care of home court,” [Trey Lyles](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/trey-lyles/014117/) told EuroLeague TV after the game. “It’s important for us to get wins here. We were struggling earlier in the season to get wins on the road, so being able to win consistently at home is definitely helping us a lot.”

Lyles came off the bench and scored 11 of Real Madrid’s 24 points in the second quarter. In the space of less than four minutes, the 30-year-old forward took over by netting 11 straight points as his team took a 45-31 lead.

“I think that since day one we are trying to build the defensive identity and offensive identity,” Coach Scariolo stressed after the game. “Obviously, we are more of an offensively-minded team, but I think that the players are understanding and learning and working hard.”

Real Madrid was unstoppable inside the arc, with the hosts making 26 of their 36 attempts (72.2% 2FG). They also went 12-for-21 (57.1%) from deep, pairing their strong defensive display with an equally dominant performance on the other side of the floor.

“We can score in a variety of ways,” Lyles added. “We’ve got guys who can shoot the ball and score inside. Just being able to knock down the shots more consistently now is definitely helping offensively.”

Scariolo’s side extended their winning streak to five games in 2026. Their last defeat dates back to late December at the hands of AS Monaco, which is set to visit the Spanish capital on Thursday.

Dario Brizuela made the most of a rare starting opportunity, scoring 25 points and sinking the decisive shot with 2.3 seconds left as FC Barcelona edged Dubai Basketball 91–89, bouncing back strongly from its loss to Real Madrid.

FC Barcelona shook off its bruising loss to Real Madrid in the best way possible — by handing the keys to an unexpected hero. Dario Brizuela, given a rare place in the starting lineup, seized the moment and electrified Palau Blaugrana.

Brizuela rewarded Xavi Pascual’s trust with a season‑high explosion: 25 points, capped by a cold‑blooded floater with 2.3 seconds left to seal a 91–89 thriller over Dubai Basketball.

“Today was a must-win for us after the loss on Friday to Madrid, so I had to help the team. Everybody played great today. It was good for us today,” said Brizuela, who was only two points off his career high in scoring.

Brizuela had only started 7 games in his 88-game EuroLeague career - the last one coming in Round 34 of the 2023-24 season. He scored Barcelona’s first 7 points of the game and then played a major role in building a double-digit lead in the third quarter with 14 points in the period. He also helped out with 2 rebounds and 4 assists.

“The truth is that it went well for us. We wanted to change something because in the last few games we hadn't started well at all on an offensive level,” Pascual said of the change in the starting five.

“We knew we would lose a bit of height and maybe suffer a bit with some rebounding, but we wanted to control a bit more with three creative players who could always attack the weakest part of the opposing team and we did quite well what we were looking for. Every game is different. Today we sacrificed some things we had been doing to go a different way, to change things, and in the end it worked out quite well because we ended up winning.”

Brizuela was there when it counted most, hitting a jumper with 42 seconds left to make it 89-88, and then in Barcelona’s final possession, he drove to the lane and rose for a floater which went in for the final scoreline 91-89.

Brizuela partnered well with Kevin Punter, who poured in 20 points of his own.

“I played last season a little bit with him, too. We like playing with each other. We are kind of both the same way. He’s a better scorer than me but we both put a lot of pressure on the defense. When we are on the court together they have to focus on both of us. That is how we tried to play today and it worked out,” Brizuela said.

“It was a gritty win. They fought back when we were up 12. We were able to finish it out. Dario made some big-time plays,” added Punter.

After Dubai finished the first quarter ahead 18-22, Punter keyed a big 14-2 run in the second quarter to lead 41-30 and the score was 49-41 at the break.

Brizuela knocked down 3 three-pointers in the third quarter as Barcelona pulled away and was up 79-67 after 30 minutes.

Dubai worked its way back into the game with 3 triples and knotted the score 83-83. Dwayne Bacon added another three-pointer and it was 87-88 before Brizuela’s heroics.

Dubai has struggled all season to win away from home. With this loss, it fell to 10-13 overall and 2-10 on the road. McKinley Wright scored a career-high 29 points to go with 5 assists while Mfiondu Kabengele had 13 points.

“We had our chances. The last two possessions we didn’t defend very well and they made their baskets and won the game. We gave up too many second-chance points,” said Dubai head coach Jurica Golemac, who did see the return of Dzanan Musa for the first time since Round 3 and he had 5 points in 14 minutes.

Vezenkov looked unstoppable from the off, dealing blow after blow to a bewildered Maccabi defense. After missing his first attempt from inside the arc, he went 2-for-3 on twos, 3-for-3 from deep and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, ending the first quarter with 15 points.

Despite not going to the charity stripe again in the next three quarters, Vezenkov bagged 28 points, which he paired with 6 rebounds in yet another sublime performance.

“I’m feeling good,” he told EuroLeague TV. “I have confidence, but for me, the most important is the team to win. And, as I said many times, the most important thing is to keep working, keep believing in what you’re doing and we have to get along.”

Having grabbed a narrow 27-24 advantage heading into the second quarter, Olympiacos saw its second unit step up on both ends of the floor. Tyrique Jones, Tyson Ward and Evan Fournier took over by netting 4 each, as their team opened a 39-32 lead.

What followed was a 23-2 surge to end the second quarter, with Fournier taking his tally to 12 points as Olympiacos secured a 55-32 cushion at halftime.

“The way the team is playing right now is really good,” Fournier said. “We have a good team going and I think each and every one of us coming into the game, we are trying to have an impact on winning and that’s the most important thing.”

The Frenchman tied his career-high by recording 9 of his team’s 29 assists. For yet another game, Olympiacos shared the ball well, with 10 players getting at least 1 assist. Meanwhile, the hosts outrebounded Maccabi 40-25, with 18 offensive rebounds which led to 25 second-chance points.

The Reds reached the 100-point mark for the fourth game in a row across all competitions, with Vezenkov scoring at least 24 points in five consecutive EuroLeague games.

In that stretch, the Olympiacos forward has shot 29-for-39 from inside the arc and 16-for-25 from beyond the arc, constantly terrorizing opposing defenses. Simply put, he's inevitable.

“For one more game, we showed that our potential, our ceiling is too high, scoring 100 points again without having any crazy percentages,” head coach Georgios Bartzokas said in the post-game press conference.

Maccabi bounced back in the second half, outscoring Olympiacos 42-59, but the hosts were in control of the game throughout. Having grabbed its sixth win in seven games, the Reds have opened the double-round week as they hoped and will look to double their victories by beating Anadolu Efes Istanbul on Thursday.

However, it should be noted that Olympiacos hasn’t won at Efes since December 2017, meaning that the Turkish side will push for its eighth straight home win over the Reds.

To do so, they will need to succeed where many teams have fallen short lately: contain a red-hot Vezenkov who shows no sign of slowing down in 2026.

The 30-year-old shot 10-for-14 from the field en route to 28 points

Despite appearing in just two EuroLeague games this season and averaging 1.5 points per contest, Vassilis Toliopoulos seized his opportunity Tuesday night, pouring in a game-high 21 points to lead Panathinaikos BC to victory against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.

“I couldn’t imagine I would be in this situation, with Panathinaikos fans chanting my name. Such a historical team. You can’t imagine my feelings right now, and I thank them so much for the support.”

Entering the matchup with the stronger record and home-court advantage, Panathinaikos were clear favorites. Still, the contest opened evenly, with neither side able to fully assert control. That changed late in the first quarter, when the hosts pulled away with a scoring surge led by center [Richaun Holmes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/richaun-holmes/014011/).

The momentum continued into the second period, as Panathinaikos stretched the lead behind swarming defense and efficient shot-making. By halftime, the Greeks had opened up a 17-point cushion and firmly taken command.

The third quarter belonged entirely to Toliopoulos. The Greek guard caught fire from beyond the arc, pushing the margin further and putting the game well out of Baskonia’s reach. He eventually exited to a standing ovation, his name echoing throughout Telekom Center Athens.

In a season-high 26 minutes, Toliopoulos knocked down 5-of-9 attempts from three-point range and finished 6-of-12 from the field overall. He added 5 assists and did not commit a single turnover. Afterward, he credited his performance to staying ready.

“As a player, I am always ready. I don’t care what happened in the past,” Toliopoulos said. “If I wait one month to play, or one year, I will always be ready to help my team, and that’s what I did today.”

[Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/) was one of three other Panathinaikos players to score in double figures, along with Holmes and [Alexandros Samodurov](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/alexandros-samodurov/011442/). Sloukas expressed pride in his compatriot’s breakout showing and hopes it can become a regular contribution.

“He’s a good player,” Sloukas said. “I respect him a lot. He’s aggressive, and I like this – Panathinaikos basketball. He sacrifices his body on offense and defense. He played an excellent game today, and now he has to find the power to continue like this.”

Head coach Ergin Ataman also praised Toliopoulos for capitalizing on his opportunity, with fellow guard [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) having the first DNP of his career. While noting that the return of [Kendrick Nunn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kendrick-nunn/012774/) and others from injury will affect the rotation, Ataman said the guard earned his moment.

“Players like Toliopoulos and Samodurov take minutes in the Greek League to show they’re ready,” Ataman said. “This week, I saw that both players were ready, and now we can use them in the EuroLeague.”

The win moved Panathinaikos to 14-9 on the season and strengthens its push for a playoff spot. They will travel to Menora Mivtachim Arena on Thursday to face Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv.

Baskonia, meanwhile, dropped to 8-15 as its two-game winning streak came to an end. Paolo Galbiati’s side will next face reigning champions Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on Friday.
