Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade has signed a four-year deal with teenage star Nikola Topic, the club confirmed on Monday. Earlier last season, Topic received the Most Valuable Player award at the ANGT Belgrade event, having posted 26.8 points while shooting 52.9% on three-pointers and going 32-of-33 on free throws (97.0%). He also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 2.0 steals for an average PIR of 33.5. During that tournament, Topic tied the ANGT all-time single-game scoring record with 49 points and tied for third all-time highest PIR mark with a rating of 65 in Zvezda’s group-stage win over NGT Belgrade.

Of course, Olympiacos had major roles to fill after [losing three-time champion Kostas Sloukas to archrival Panathinaikos Athens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/kostas-sloukas-switches-olympiacos-for-archrival-panathinaikos/) and EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov to the NBA. Apart from their trophies and numerous accolades, those two players combined for 28.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists last season. No single player, and very few pairs of players, can replace that kind of production, but acquiring Sikma is a step in that direction for Olympiacos.

### What Sikma brings to Olympiacos

Sikma is the best definition of a point forward in the EuroLeague and easily the best passer among frontcourt players. He averaged 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season. Just six other teams had players with higher average assists than his. And last season was no fluke. For his 121-game EuroLeague career, Sikma has put up 8.8 points on 35.8% three-point shooting, 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

On paper, Sikma fits into a gaping hole left by Vezenkov at power forward. But it's safe to say he is not about trying to fill the shoes of the MVP. In fact, even though he will play at Vezenkov's position, Sikma will also offset the departure of Sloukas with his passing. [Sikma (8.7) was only three places behind Sloukas (9.8) in assists per 40 minutes played](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/stats/expanded/?size=25&viewType=traditional&seasonCode=E2022&statisticMode=perMinute&seasonMode=Single&sortDirection=descending&statistic=assistances) last season.

Don't expect Sikma to score like the people he is replacing, though. In four EuroLeague seasons so far, the 33-year-old has never averaged double-digit points, while Vezenkov was last season's top scorer at 17.6 points per game. Vezenkov did that while knocking down 79 triples last season, which is just 3 fewer than Sikma's career total. Sikma does not arrive to Piraeus as a man who will replace that volume but filling in the void left by an MVP can never be a one player's job, anyway. It needs to be a collective effort, and Sikma is certainly someone who can make teammates better.

### Fitting the Reds' system like a glove

Olympiacos posted league-bests of 21.0 assists on average 60.2% two-point accuracy last season, and ranked second at 82.8 points per game. All those could hold or improve with Sikma, a matchup nightmare in the low post who has perfected setting up teammates for easy scores. So, a team that already moved the ball so well gets a player who excels in that regard and is at his best when serving his teammates.

One can already imagine the likes of Shaquielle McKissic, Kostas Papanikolaou and Thomas Walkup thriving on cuts to the basket for Sikma's passes, or Alex Peters and Isaiah Canaan knocking down open three-point looks assisted by their new teammate. That's not to forget big men Milutinov and Moustapha Fall, who will have enough room to operate under the rims because Sikma doesn't require that space. But they will need to have their hands ready for anything when Sikma has the ball in his.

Sikma may not be not the last Olympiacos signing this summer, but it feels strongly as if the Reds got a player who fits their already-successful offense to a T. His arrival might make Olympiacos even tougher to defend.

### A consistent performer in the EuroCup

 

Through his four seasons in the EuroCup, which came with Zenit St. Petersburg (2018-19), Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (2019-20), Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade (2020-21) and MoraBanc Andorra (2021-22), Miller-McIntyre has consistently found a way to positively influence his team. Although his spell with Zenit saw him average just 5.8 points across eight games, he made up for that with his playmaking, posting 5.6 assists per night. He also averaged 1.9 rebounds, 1.1 steals and a 6.1 PIR.

Miller-McIntyre exploded with his scoring while wearing the jersey of Cedevita, averaging 15.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.8 steals and a 17.0 PIR in 10 games. Then, with Partizan, he posted 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.7 steals and a 15.2 PIR through 12 fixtures. ### Replacing the Darius Thompson-shaped void

 

This summer, Baskonia has looked to address the loss of Darius Thompson to Anadolu Efes Istanbul by signing two point guards. The first to arrive was Nico Mannion, a 22-year-old prospect with plenty of upside. Now, Miller-McIntyre arrives at Baskonia as a more ready-made option who should fit in nicely alongside scoring guard Markus Howard.

On his first experience in the EuroLeague, Miller-McIntyre will be expected to not only display his scoring prowess but also his ability to get his teammates involved and positively affect Baskonia's play on the court.

### Kassius Robertson: A consistent scorer

 

Robertson began his professional career with German club Medi Bayreuth in the 2018-19 season, where he averaged 12.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.7 rebounds in 34 German League games. In the 2019-20 campaign, the ex-University of Missouri star suited up for Fortitudo Bologna, posting 14.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals across 21 Italian League contests. Once again, Robertson represented Niagara in the offseason, playing seven games with the Canadian team.

Having begun to make a name for himself in Europe, he agreed to sign for Obradoiro for the first time ahead of the 2020-21 season. Robertson was an instant hit in Spain, averaging 15.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists through 33 Spanish League games. The following campaign, 2021-22, he maintained a similar level of performance with averages of 14.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 34 Spanish League fixtures.

Having decided to test his luck in Italy with Reggio Emilia in the summer of 2022, Robertson played seven Italian League games with the team, posting 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists, before returning to Obradoiro in late November 2022. Robertson went on to have his best scoring season to date with 17.4 points per game, in addition to 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

 

### Where does Robertson fit in at Valencia?

 

While Valencia remains in the market for guards, with the club reportedly looking at bringing Matt Thomas back to the club following his release by Panathinaikos Athens, Robertson joins a backcourt that boasts star point guard Chris Jones. Coach Alex Mumbru is also able to call upon the likes of Josep Puerto, Martin Hermansson and Millan Jimenez, but in Robertson and Jones he now has two players who have regularly displayed their ability to score the basketball. ### Napier almost did the impossible

Milan looked destined to miss the EuroLeague Playoffs prior to Napier's arrival, yet a 6-0 run upon his arrival inspired hope among the club's fan base. The team ended up going 9-3 in the 12 games Napier played between Rounds 22 and 33. While Milan didn't make the playoffs in the end, the addition of Napier coincided with the side's best spell in the 2022-23 EuroLeague season, leaving many supporters wondering 'what could have been'.

### Some stellar performances

Napier was able to reach double figures for points in nine of his 12 appearances last season, and his career-high mark of 28 points in a road win at Valencia Basket in Round 27 was a particular highlight. Before that, in Round 24, the Milan fans watched on from afar as the ex-NBA player scored 26 points and led his team to a 75-82 win at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. ### From the NBA to the EuroLeague

Napier began his professional career in the NBA with the Miami Heat in the 2014-15 season and went on to play a total of 354 games in the association, having also suited up for the Orlando Magic (2015-16), the Portland Trail Blazers (2016-18), the Brooklyn Nets (2018-19) and then both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Washington Wizards in the 2019-20 campaign.

In the summer of 2021, Napier agreed to join Zenit St. Petersburg, which was playing in the EuroLeague, but an injury early in the season prevented him from making his debut. Then, in late February 2022 he left the club due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Napier joined Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico in the G League in November 2022, but a few months later, in the final days of January 2023, he signed for Milan and made his long-awaited EuroLeague debut.

Nunnally posted 9.2 points on 40.5% three-point shooting, along with 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 37 EuroLeague appearances last season, helping Partizan reach the EuroLeague playoffs for the first time in 12 years. This will mark the continuation of collaboration between Nunnally and Partizan head coach Zeljko Obradovic. Aside from last season, the two were also together for three seasons at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, winning the EuroLeague title in 2017.

During his career, Nunnally has also played for Maccabi Ashdod in Israel, Estudiantes Madrid in Spain, Avellino in Italy, Kavala in Greece, the Atlanta Hawks, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA; the Motor City Cruise and the Texas Legends in the G League, and the Shanghai Sharks in China. In addition to winning the EuroLeague, he also won two Turkish championships and one Turkish Cup with Fenerbahce.

### Getting a chance in the EuroCup

Tanoulis may be just 20 years old, yet he already has three seasons worth of experience in the EuroCup with Promitheas. He made his competition debut in the 2020-21 season, stepping onto the floor for the first-ever time on October 6, 2020, during a road game at Dolomiti Energia Trento. The promising big man made a total of five appearances during that campaign, starting once, before playing nine games – all from the bench – during the 2021-22 season.

Last season, Tanoulis set career highs for games played (12), points scored (52), assists provided (10), steals recorded (3) and accumulated PIR (29). His standout performance in the 2022-23 campaign came in Round 9, when he had 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and a 15 PIR in 14:17 minutes on the court against Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv.

### What role can Tanoulis expect at Olympiacos?

With new signing Milutinov having joined this summer and Moustapha Fall still at the club, Tanoulis will likely have to accept a reserve role in his rookie EuroLeague season. Nevertheless, working alongside the likes of Milutinov and Fall on a day-by-day basis should be the perfect learning experience for the young Greek, who will have aims of fulfilling his potential and becoming a star for Olympiacos in the next few years.
