Panathinaikos OPAP Athens has secured a deal to sign Derrick Williams, the club announced on Friday. Williams (2.03 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, where he averaged 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 35 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague matches last season. He is the Greens' fifth signing of the summer.

Williams is going into his fifth EuroLeague season with his fifth team, having made his debut in the competition with FC Bayern Munich in 2018-19 before going on to represent Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, Valencia Basket and Maccabi and the following three seasons. He has played a total of 126 games in the competition, during which time he has averaged 10.6 points and 3.5 rebounds. Prior to arriving at Bayern in 2018, Williams spent the majority of the previous seven years in the NBA, as he played for Minnesota, Sacramento, New York, Miami, Cleveland and Los Angeles. He also spent one year in China.
