Panathinaikos OPAP Athens added depth and size to its backcourt by inking swingman Georgios Kalaitzakis to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Kalaitzakis (2.01 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Oklahoma City of the NBA, where he averaged 17.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 4 games last season. He also played for Milwaukee of the NBA, as well as for Wisconsin and Oklahoma City of the G League during the 2020-21 campaign. Panathinaikos signed his twim brother, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, earlier this month.

Kalaitzakis returns to Panathinaikos for a third stint with the Greens. He played for his current club from 2015 to 2019, and returned to the team in the 2020-21 campaign. He has also played for Nevezis Kedainiani of Lithuania. He helped Panathinaikos win four Greek League and four Greek titles. Kalaitzakis is also a member of the Greek national team. "I am very happy to have returned to Panathinaikos. I don't want to say many words. I will give 100% of my strength to help the team achieve its goals, Kalaitzakis said.
