Real Madrid has made sure to keep one of its core pieces with the team for two more years when it inked a new deal with veteran guard Fabien Causeur, the club announced on Thursday. Causeur (1.95 meters, 35 years old) has spent the last five years in the Spanish capital and last season averaged 8.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists during the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season, before shining in the playoffs with 10.0 points on 66.7% three-point shooting, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds. He then scored 18 points in the Final Four semifinal win over FC Barcelona.

Causeur is an 11-year EuroLeague veteran with 274 appearances. more than half of those (152) have come in Los Blancos' uniform. Causeur first made his EuroLeague debut with French side Cholet Basket in the 2010-11 season, and he has been a consistent presence in Europe’s premier basketball competition ever since, going on to play for Baskonia, where he stayed for four years, and Brose Bamberg prior to his arrival at Real Madrid in 2017. Causeur won the EuroLeague with Real during the 2017-18 season and has helped the team reach three Final Fours. He has also won the Spanish league three times and the Copa del Rey once with Real.
