Real Madrid and one of its iconic veterans, three-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion Rudy Fernandez, are staying together for another season, until the end of 2023-24 campaign, the club announced on Tuesday. Fernandez (1.96 meters, 38 years old) is coming off his 13th season in the competition and 12th with Real, one in which he averaged 4.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20 appearances off the bench, helping Los Blancos on the way to another continental crown. Fernandez was instrumental, too, in the club winning the EuroLeague in 2015 and 2018, Real's first such trophies in two decades. They have reached three other EuroLeague Championship games as well, in 2013, 2014 and 2022.
Rudy ranks with the best
Just nine players in competition history have played in more EuroLeague games (325) than Fernandez, who started his professional career with Joventut Badalona and made his competition debut with that club in 2006. He ranks third all-time among EuroLeague players with 345 steals in his career, fourth with 571 three-pointers made, and 18th in scoring with 2,958 points.
