ALBA Berlin head coach Israel Gonzalez:
“Congratulations to the players. Again, they had a great effort and the reward was the win. We have to be proud of this team which always plays at its maximum effort. I’m very happy. We were able to control the rebounds against such a good team like Zenit. They are one of the best defenses in the league - maybe not in steals, but they always force you into shooting with someone in front of you. We were able to move the ball and find good positions. And I am very happy about the reaction in the second half when they looked like they were going to come back. In the end, we started to play very well but the big team was coming back and coming back. But we were able to mentally take a step forward and to improve our energy, which was the key to the second half.”
Zenit St Petersburg head coach Xavi Pascual:
“Congratulations to ALBA Berlin on the win. It was a game in which they played much better than us in the last part of the game. The end of the third quarter was very important. We were winning by 2 and we made a stupid foul - giving them 2 free throws for no reason. We missed a layup and then they hit a three-pointer. After that, we couldn’t get back into the game. We were not good enough offensively or defensively. We couldn’t change the game in any way. It was a tight game until the last 4 or 5 minutes. After ALBA took a 5-point lead, we missed some open shots and some actions under the basket and defensively we did not have enough energy in the last part of the game. It’s a pity for us, but it is what it is. It’s our reality right now.”

“It was a tough game today. Maybe an ugly one, but that’s why I am very happy and very proud that we were able to win this one. It was not easy today. It was very tough. We tried to play physical in the second half. I think what helped us in the fourth was they were on 4 team fouls pretty early on. So we were able to be aggressive and go to the free throw line. And we made big plays. Everyone chipped in and contributed and I am really happy we won this one.”
