Mahmutoglu's career night

Long-time Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul team captain Melih Mahmutoglu shined in his team's 93-79 win over Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade on Thursday evening. In just over 16 minutes on the floor, Mahmutoglu set a new career-high with 20 points. For the fifth time in his career, and for the first time in almost three years, Mahmutoglu knocked down 5 triples, this time on 9 attempts. Three of those triples, and 12 points, came late in the third and in the fourth quarter, as Fenerbahce kept Zvezda at bay.

Larentzakis provided vital boost for Olympiacos

For two and half quarters, Olympiacos Piraeus was trying to fight off a potential upset from Partizan Mozzart Bet Partizan at Peace and Friendship Stadium on Thursday night. But, Giannoulis Larentzakis then took matters into his own hands. He scored the Reds' final 11 points of the third quarter to help turn a one-possession affair into a 14-point lead. All of his numbers – 14 points on 3-for-5 three-point shooting in 13 minutes and 33 seconds, with 2 steals, 1 rebound and 1 steal – came during a key Olympiacos run late in the third and early in the fourth quarter.

Laprovittola sinks Maccabi in Tel Aviv

FC Barcelona, the top-seeded team at the end of the last two regular seasons, seems it has gotten back on track with its third straight win. Barca ended its six-year wait for a win in Israel by beating Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, and Nicolas Laprovittola had a major part in it. Laprovittola had the second-best shooting night of his career, knocking down 6 three-pointers, one shy of his career-best. All 12 of his field goal attempts came from beyond the arc. He needed just 21 minutes to establish himself as the game's top scorer with 19 points, as Barca went on to grab a long-awaited win in Tel Aviv.

There was no way past Hayes

Zalgiris center Kavarrius Hayes returned to the place where he played his only previous EuroLeague season: Astroballe, home of LCLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. The 25-year-old showed that he still feels at home in Lyon by finishing with 5 blocks in Zalgiris's first road win of the season. It was one shy of his career-best, and the most by a Zalgiris players in almost 14 years. The last time a Zalgiris player achieved this feat was back in December of 2008. Hayes also had 7 rebounds, including 5 on the defensive end, as he played a key role in Zalgiris holding the hosts to 76 points. Hayes also had 6 points and 2 assists, all in 18 minutes on the floor.

Obst comes to the fore in the German Derby

The German Derby went to FC Bayern Munich once again, which held off ALBA Berlin 77-79 on the road for its sixth win in as many games against its rival from the German capital. Sharpshooter Andreas Obst was a major factor in Bayern's win with a career-best 4-for-6 three-point shooting for 14 points, which was 1 point shy of his career-high. His first two triples came in a 2-14 first-quarter run to strike game's first blow. The next three-pointer arrived in the second quarter to help Bayern slow down ALBA's rally, and the final one landed in the fourth to keep Bayern's margin safe.

Hanga bounces back against Efes

It has been a tough start of the season for Adam Hanga, Real Madrid's do-it-all swingman, having started the season injured before returning to action in Round 5. In his previous two EuroLeague appearances this season, Hanga averaged 1.5 points and a PIR of 1.0. However, Hanga bounced back against Anadolu Efes Istanbul, leading Real to a 94-85 victory with 11 points on 5-of-5 two-pointers, as well as 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 fouls drawn and a PIR of 19, which is his second-highest rating since he joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2021.

Webb enjoys big night in Valencia win

His career-best 15 points is the same total he achieved in the previous three games combined, while his 8 rebounds and PIR of 17 are both personal-highs in his first season in the competition.
