The veteran center joins his fourth EuroLeague team
Tarik Black strengthens ASVEL's frontline
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne added an experienced weapon to its frontline by signing Tarik Black for the coming season, the club announced on Thursday. Black (2.06 meters, 32 years old) arrives from Italian side Reggio Emilio, where he averaged 9.1 points on 68.5% shooting and 4.4 rebounds over 15 games last season. He only joined the club in last February.
Black's last EuroLeague action came in 2022-23 when he helped Olympiacos Piraeus reach the championship game. He averaged 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds over 35 EuroLeague games in a reserve role for the Reds. Black has played a total of 85 games over four EuroLeague seasons for Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiacos.
Black played three years of college basketball at the University of Memphis and then one more at the University of Kansas before beginning his professional career with the Houston Rockets of the NBA in 2014. He then spent the next three years with the Los Angeles Lakers, which included a spell with the Lakers's G League team in the 2016-17 season. Black returned to Houston in 2017, but one year later he began his European adventure with Maccabi. He also played the second half of the 2021-22 season with Bahcesehir College Istanbul in Turkiye.
