In his 12th EuroLeague season, one of the all-time great passers is moving up the assists charts in the competition.
Teodosic moves up the assists charts
Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade playmaker Milos Teodosic climbed a spot in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague's all-time assists list and now ranks sixth with 1,345 career assists.
Teodosic needed to get 5 assists in his team's Round 12 game against Valencia Basket to go past Thomas Heurtel in the list. He finished with a game-high 9 despite his team's 85-81 defeat. He had his fifth assist with 5:15 left in the third quarter on a no-look pass to Dejan Davidovac for an alley-oop layup.
Nick Calathes of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul ranks first overall with 1,930 assists. Sergio Rodriguez ranks second (1,781), Vassilis Spanoulis third (1,607), Kostas Sloukas fourth (1,566) and Sergio Llull fifth (1,348) Teodosic is the only player in the those top six with fewer than 300 EuroLeague games played. Wednesday was his 275th game.
Teodosic started his EuroLeague career with Olympiacos Piraeus, where he was chosen as the 2009-10 EuroLeague MVP. He dished 248 assists in 80 games with the Reds. Teodosic went on to play for CSKA Moscow, to which he helped win the EuroLeague title in the 2015-16 season. "Teo" had 878 assists in 157 games with CSKA. Teodosic lifted the 2021-22 BKT EuroCup trophy with Virtus Segafredo Bologna, allowing him to return to the EuroLeague. He had 155 assists in 26 games with Virtus. And after Tuesday, he has dished 64 in 11 games with Zvezda.
Teodosic's assists record are 14 playing CSKA against Unicaja Malaga on January 22, 2015. He ranks second in points-assists double-double, 18, trailing only Calathes (38). He has played in eight Final Fours, and has been chosen to the All-EuroLeague First Team in the 2009-10, 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. He also made it to the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2016-17 All-EuroLeague Second Team.
