The Bacon and Lee Show decided it for the Greens
Although Panathinaikos Athens come back from deficits as high as 15 points as late as the deep third quarter, the Greens were still behind 65-72 on Thursday with 3 minutes left in the fourth to a visiting AX Emporio Armani Milan team that was desperate to break a seven-game losing streak.
As it turns out, Dwayne Bacon and Paris Lee were just as desperate to keep the three-game winning streak of the Greens going strong.
Over the next 8 minutes until the end of overtime, they scored 21 of their team's last 25 points while Milan as a team managed just 5 for what ended up looking like a lopsided 90-77 victory for Panathinaikos.
Panathinaikos head coach Dejan Radonjic knew exactly who he wanted to have the ball every time his team got possession of it. Indeed, it often seemed like almost no one else touched the ball for the Greens in those last 8 minutes. The only basket score by any other Panathinaikos player came when Lee assisted Georgios Papagiannis for the game-tying dunk with 8 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the key play of the game. In overtime, Derrick Williams shot 2 free throws after being fouled on a steal.
Other than that, it was the Bacon and Lee show in all of crunch time until the Greens had kept their victory run fully intact.
