There were plenty of reasons why LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne was able to beat Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague on Friday night. Most importantly for coach TJ Parker, the team's defense stepped up on a night where things finally fell into place for ASVEL.
ASVEL held the EuroLeague’s number one offense to 31 points below its average during an 87-61 blowout, as it recorded its first home win of the season. One thing is for certain: all the Halloween costumes in the stands at Astroballe helped the team strike fear into Baskonia, as ASVEL improved its record to 2-3 and 1-1 on its home floor.
“We haven’t had many home games; we’ve been on the road a lot. So, this is a great way to start this stretch [of] four of five games at home. We have to take care of home court,” said Parker.
