Virtus Segafredo Bologna announced on Wednesday that Awudu Abass would undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his knee and will likely miss the start of the season. Abass, 29, missed almost the entirety of the 2021-22 campaign with a torn ACL suffered last September, but had returned to action with Virtus in the preseason. He was hurt in a preseason game and the club’s medical staff and its initial examinations have diagnosed an osteochondral lesion. A full timetable for his recovery will be determined after the operation. Abass is entering his third season with Virtus and his fourth in the EuroLeague.
