White was cool as ice for PAO
Despite leading for the whole game, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens had to fight hard till the end to defeat ASVEL Villeurbanne at the Astroballe on Friday night. Pushed by Dylan Osetkowski, the French champs came back from a 16-point first-half deficit to get within 57-59 with 6 minutes still remaining in the fourth quarter.
That was when Okaro White emerged to help his team stay calm, pushing the Greens to a much-needed road win. First, he ended a four-minute scoring drought with an acrobatic layup, then strung together a three-point play, a two-handed slam and a nice turnaround layup in the low post to make it 63-72 and seal the outcome. Overall, he scored 9 of the 17 points that the Greens scored in the last quarter.
"We are satisfied. Every time you get a road win, you are satisfied," White said after the game. "I think we have a group of guys that plays well, and we fought hard. It's very important. We have been struggling all season, so we are trying to finish out strong, to fight hard and play hard."
