Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade point guard Yago Dos Santos is being held at a Belgrade hospital overnight, the club announced after its game against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on Thursday night. Yago was diagnosed with a fracture to the maxillary sinus wall and a concussion, according to the club.
The first-year playmaker left the game with 2:21 left after suffering an unintentional blow to his forehead from Maccabi forward Bonzie Colson while chasing an offensive rebound. Yago left lying on the floor for an extended period of time, before being helped by trainers and left straight into the locker room.
The further test will determine whether the Brazilian playmaker needs a surgery. He scored 20 points and had 7 assists in a game which Zvezda lost 80-84, dropping to a 10-19 record. Yago, who turned 25 years of age last week, averages 9.2 points, 4.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds in his first EuroLeague season.
