Zalgiris was hit with another in a succession of injuries when its veteran guard was stricken with appendicitis.
Zalgiris's Lekavicius out one month
Zalgiris Kaunas will spend the last month of 2023 without guard Lukas Lekavicius, who will have to remain sidelined for approximately one month due to appendicitis surgery, the club announced. Lekavicius (1.80 meters, 29 years old) is averaging 4.3 points and 1.8 assists in 11 appearances off the bench this season in over 11 minutes per game. Lekavicius went scoreless against ALBA Berlin in Round 12 in almost 11 minutes on the court. This is Lekavicius's 10th EuroLeague season, all of them with Zalgiris except for two - 2017-18 and 2018-19 - during which he played in Greece with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens.
Lekavicius is expected to be back by the start of 2024. Zalgiris is currently in 14th place in the standings with 5 wins and 7 losses and it will next face fourth-placed AS Monaco at home on Friday.
