Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul

Founded in 1907, Fenerbahce opened its doors to basketball seven years later, but waited decades until it claimed its first titles. Eventually, Turkish national championships arrived in 1957, 1959 and 1965 and the club also made EuroLeague appearances following those titles. Another quarter-century passed before the club enjoyed more success when Fener beat Tofas for the 1991 Turkish League crown. In 1999, the club reached the EuroLeague eighthfinals, losing against Real Madrid. It wasn't until 2006 that Fener truly became a European powerhouse. Fenerbahce merged with four-time Turkish champs Ulker, becoming Fenerbahce Ulker. It qualified to the EuroLeague playoffs in 2008 and won domestic doubles in 2010 and 2011. The club took an ambitious step forward by hiring head coach Zeljko Obradovic, who took the team to the next level. Fenerbahce made it to five straight Final Fours from 2015 to 2019, reaching three consecutive EuroLeague Championship Games. It lost an overtime thriller against CSKA in 2016 and could not beat Real in 2018, but everything clicked in 2017. Ekpe Udoh, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Jan Vesely allowed Fenerbahce to become the first Turkish EuroLeague-winning team in 2017, as Obradovic's men rolled past Real and Olympiacos Piraeus at the Final Four in their own city. Udoh earned Final Four MVP honors. Fenerbahce added its 10th Turkish League title in 2022 and EuroLeague playoff appearance in 2023 and 2024, and is hungry for more success in the near future under the guidance of head coach Saras Jasikevicius.
