Israel Hayom enters the broadcasting industry by acquiring the rights to the 2024-25 BKT EuroCup
Israel Hayom to broadcast the BKT EuroCup in Israel
Euroleague Basketball is proud to announce that "Israel Hayom" has secured broadcasting rights for the 2024-25 BKT EuroCup season in Israel. Established in 2007 as a free-distribution newspaper, Israel Hayom has quickly grown to become the largest circulation newspaper in the country, with a popular online platform serving both English and Hebrew readers.
This marks the first time "Israel Hayom" will broadcast a major sports competition, underscoring its commitment to expanding its reach among sports fans. Through its official website, mobile app, and a dedicated smart TV platform, Israel Hayom will provide free streaming of games involving the two Israeli teams — Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv — as well as a selection of the best games from each round of the BKT EuroCup.
"We are thrilled to partner with "Israel Hayom" to bring the excitement of the BKT EuroCup to basketball fans across Israel," said Alex Ferrer Kristjansson, Euroleague Basketball Marketing and Communication Senior Director. "This collaboration ensures that Israeli sports enthusiasts can enjoy top-tier European basketball for free, expanding the reach and accessibility of the EuroCup."
Leading Israeli basketball commentators will spearhead the coverage, including Shay Hausman, Amit Horsky, Nir Kaplan, Avi Segal, and more. The games will be broadcast from a special studio, hosted by Yoav Limor, featuring former players, coaches, and other prominent figures in Israeli sports. In addition to live broadcasts, Israel Hayom will offer a comprehensive 360º fan experience, extensive coverage across Israel Hayom’s digital and print platforms, providing in-depth analysis, updates, and exclusive content throughout the season.
Amir Finkelstein, CEO of "Israel Hayom," stated: "The Israel Hayom Group is delighted to enter the world of video and television, especially with the opportunity to offer the Israeli public high-quality basketball coverage, with top broadcasters and commentators, free of charge. This is a major development in journalism, sports, and consumer service, in line with the values of Israel Hayom."
Omer Lachmanovitch, editor-in-chief of "Israel Hayom," added: "As a leading media group, "Israel Hayom" is proud to be a home for fans of Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv, Hapoel Jerusalem Bank Yahav, and all basketball enthusiasts in Israel. We are committed to providing viewers with a rich and enjoyable sports experience."
