Hugo Gonzalez had a Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Finals for the ages, going home with the Most Valuable Player award after helping U18 Real Madrid to the title in a thrilling ANGT Championship Game.
Gonzalez was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Nolan Traore from U18 PFBB INSEP Paris, Kasparas Jakucionis from U18 FC Barcelona, U18 Mega MIS Belgrade's Jack Kayil and Parker Robinson of U18 Overtime Elite.
Gonzalez tallied 23 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and 1 block for a performance index rating of 27 in Real's 85-84 overtime win over PFBB in the title bout – including a three-pointer that forced the extra session. For the tournament, the Spaniard collected 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.3 steals and 2.0 blocks for a PIR of 22.3.
In the ANGT Championship Game, Traore collected 18 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals for a PIR of 9. For the tournament, the French star averaged 24.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals in totaling a PIR of 25.8. Traore's tournament included 45 points in the final game of the group against Barcelona to set the record for most points in an ANGT Finals game.
Jakucionis had an outstanding all-around tournament with 19.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 3.7 steals for an average PIR of 30.3. The Lithuanian's performance also included 17 assists against U18 ALBA Berlin to set the new ANGT single game record.
Kayil averaged 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 2.7 steals for a PIR of 19.7. And Robinson tallied 20.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals for an average index rating of 21.3.
