Joventut Badalona snapped a three-game losing streak thanks to a 92-89 win over Trefl Sopot at Palau Olimpic on Wednesday night. The hosts, who improved to 4-8 to keep dreaming of extending their season to the playoffs, saw Trefl come back from a 44-17 deficit early in the second quarter and had to wait till the final whistle to secure the outcome. With this loss, Sopot chained together 12 defeats in as many games and remained last in Group A.

Yannick Kraag scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half to lead the winners, Devon Dotson followed with 14 points and 6 assists and Artem Pustovyi and Kassius Robertson netted 11 and 10, respectively. Jaroslaw Zyskowski paced Sopot with 25 points; Aaron Best, Nahiem Alleyre and Nick Johnson contributed 13 apiece and Geoffrey Groselle had 12 in a losing effort.

Dotson and Pustovyi got Joventut going, 6-2, but back-to-back triples by Zyskowski and Alleyne right after a timeout put Trefl ahead early in the game, 6-8. It was nothing but an illusion, as the hosts used a couple of threes by Sam Dekker and Robertson to start a 20-2 run that built a comfortable double-digit lead, 26-10, after 7 minutes. The visitors stopped the game again, but it wasn’t enough to end the bleeding. Pushed by veterans Pau Ribas and Ante Tomic, Joventut kept soaring and even extended the margin to 39-17 at the end of the first quarter.

A three-pointer by Pep Busquests made it even worse for Sopot, 44-17, right after the break. Back-to-back threes by Alleyre and Zyskowski gave some breath to the Polish side and forced a timeout by Joventut midway through the second period, with the Spaniards still enjoying a 46-26 advantage. The visitors’ run didn’t stop here, though, as Groselle, Mikolaj Witlinski and Best combined to ignite a 13-4 run that Johnson and Zyskowski extended with a couple of three-point plays that reduced the margin to 53-45. With Kraag as the only contributor in that quarter. Joventut managed to retain a double-digit edge, 58-45, entering the last minute, but another scoring spurt by Johnson closed the first half with Trefl back into the game, 60-51.

A three-point play by Pustovyi and a triple by Gates pushed Joventut out of the danger zone, 68-53, as Trefl quickly stopped the game with a timeout. With Groselle leading the offense from the inside with 8 straight points, Trefl managed to abort the home team's escape attempt, making it 69-59 midway through the third quarter. A couple of technical fouls called on Groselle and Johnson slowed down the guests for a while, but Zyskoski’s fifth triple and an unsportsmanlike foul on Kraag returned some restlessness to the home crowd at 72-67. Both teams tried to take control of the game from behind the arc, but the only one that read the situation correctly was Johnson, who made it a one-possession game, 74-71. A three-point play by Dekker avoided further damage for Joventut, who entered the last stanza ruling 77-71.

Best helped Trefl come within 79-74 from behind the arc and another bucket by Zyskowski forced an early timeout by Joventut, with the game on the line once again, 79-76. Dotson and Robertson came to the rescue from outside, as Trefl missed some long-range shots that allowed Joventut to keep its opponent away, 86-78. Dotson followed with 4 points in a row to reconstruct a double-digit margin, 90-80, with 3 minutes remaining. But the game was far from finished, as Schenk showed up with back-to-back triples and Alleyre provided another from the corner to make it 90-89. Consecutive empty attacks by Joventut granted Trefl a chance to complete the rally with 25 seconds to go, but Schenk couldn’t convert a right-handed layup and, after Kayser Gates made it 92-89 from the line, Schenk also missed a last triple that could have tied the game at the buzzer. 

The visitors reduced a 27-point deficit to 1 in the last minutes, but missed the three that could have forced overtime.

After playing college basketball at  Metropolitan State University of Denver, Jefferson began his professional career in Finland with KTP Basket in 2014. After one season in Germany with Phoenix Hagen, Jefferson debuted in the EuroCup with Union Olimpija Ljubljana in 2016. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 assists in eight EuroCup games that season. He has since also played for Trapani in Italy and Tianjin Ronggang Pioneers in China aside from four seasons in France.

Olympiacos BC improved to 10-6 in the EuroLeague with a workmanlike 87-77 home win over Virtus Bologna (3-13), having ramped up its defense in the second half after spilling an 18-point lead in the first.

Olympiacos Piraeus improved to 10-6 in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with a workmanlike 87-77 home win over Virtus Segafredo Bologna (3-13), having ramped up its defense in the second half after spilling an 18-point lead in the first.

Sasha Vezenkov capped a fine individual performance with a game-high 27 points and added 10 rebounds for an impressive double-double, while Evan Fournier added 20 points, 7 assists and 5 boards for the home team. Alec Peters chipped in with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Marco Belinelli paced Virtus on 20 points and Matt Morgan added 15 for the visitors, who staged a brief second-quarter comeback to turn a 25-7 deficit into a 43-46 lead at halftime but were unable to keep up their momentum after the interval.

Determined to make amends for last week’s crushing 87-73 defeat at Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Olympiacos came out with all guns blazing and led 29-17 at the end of the first quarter. Vezenkov rifled in 14 points on the back of effervescent shooting, 4 of 4 from the floor and 5 of 5 from the foul line.

Olympiacos had dished out 9 assists in the opening period and then suffered a complete meltdown in the second, as Virtus gradually clawed its way back into the contest with Belinelli catching fire. The evergreen 38-year-old veteran sank 12 of his 14 first-half points in the second quarter, allowing Virtus to nose ahead at the interval after Will Clyburn drained a buzzer-beating triple off the glass. The visiting team had totally turned the tables on Olympiacos, dishing out assists like confetti while the home side’s offense came to a screeching halt at the other end.

Facing the prospect of another embarrassing defeat, the Greek outfit shifted back to top gear in the third quarter as Vezenkov, who had a quiet second quarter, rediscovered his scoring touch in the third while Fournier caught fire from all over.

A 7-0 run enabled Olympiacos to turn the tide and the hosts never looked back after edging ahead 50-46, as they went on to engineer a commanding 64-56 advantage ahead of the final 10 minutes.

Virtus was still in it early in the fourth when it trailed 71-64, but the writing was on the wall for the Italian team after a Vezenkov triple ignited an 8-0 Olympiacos run which effectively sealed the contest. The visitors fought hard to keep the deficit down but ran out of time down the stretch, as Olympiacos closed it out for a hard-fought victory.

Valencia Basket remained undefeated in Group B by downing U-BT Cluj-Napoca 108-80 at La Fonteta in Round 12 on Wednesday. Valencia improved to 11-0 in the standings and set a record for most points in a half, leading 73-47 at the break. Cluj dropped to 6-6. 

Josep Puerto, Jean Montero and Semi Ojeleye paced Valencia with 14 points apiece. Amida Brimah added 13, Jaime Pradilla and Brancou Badio each had 11 while Nate Sestina and Chris Jones got 10 apiece for Valencia. Sasu Salin led Cluj with 18 points. Zavier Simpson had 13 while De'Shawn Stephens added 12 for the guests.

Karel Guzman got Cluj going with a close basket. Puerto erased it with a fallaway jumper and added a layup in transition and a power basket for a 6-2 Valencia lead. Stefan Jovic soon capped a 10-0 run with a driving layup. Salin struck 3 times from downtown and then Zach Hankins's layup gave Cluj a 12-13 lead. Badio buried a triple that Simpson matched with an acrobatic layup-plus-foul. Sestina nailed a jump hook, getting help from Pradilla to put Valencia ahead, 20-18. Ojeleye sank a corner triple, but Stephenson and Adam Mokoka drew Cluj closer, 23-22. Ojeleye erased DJ Seeley's jumper with a layup and hit a close shot for a 27-24 score. Pradilla struck from beyond the arc, then Montero made free throws and a step-back three-pointer that gave the hosts a 35-26 lead after 10 minutes. 

Montero insisted from three-point range early in the second quarter and Puerto's Euro-step layup make Cluj call timeout at 40-26. Montero scored again and fed Brimah for a fastbreak layup. Badio soon addad a triple that Brimah followed with a wild alley-oop slam that broke the game open, 49-29. Mokoka scored around the basket, Puerto answered from downtown and Simpson brought the guests within 54-33. Jones and Ojeleye kept pacing Valencia, then Sestina hit another jump hook to boost his team's lead to 61-35. Guzman downed a three-pointer and Mareks Mejeris added a layup-plus-foul but Valencia kept rolling. Matt Costello hit a jumper, then Sestina and Jovic each nailed a three-pointer for a 73-41 lead. Stephens, Guzman and Salin brought Cluj within 73-47 at halftime. 

Jones buried a three-pointer soon after the break and Badio added a fastbreak layup for a 78-49 Valencia lead. Stephens followed a jump hook with a fastbreak layup to get Cluj closer, 78-54. Brimah took over with an alley-oop slam and followed Salin's triple with a close jumper. Stephens scored in transition and Gediminas Orelik struck from beyond the arc to bring Cluj within 82-62. Jovic banked in a floater and Sestina added a bomb from downtown to make it 87-62. Mejeris finished a four-chance Cluj offense with a tip-in and Mokoka downed a six-meter jumper. Ojeleye sank a step-back jumper to fix the score at 89-66 through three quarters.

Mokoka sank an eight-meter bomb early in the fourth quarter. Badio answered with a three-point play and Pradilla's jump hook made it a 25-point game. Pradilla scored twice in the paint and Ojeleye buried a corner triple, helping Valencia go past the 100-point mark for the seventh time this season, 101-73. Simpson fired in a jumper and Hankins scored around the basket but everything was said and done. Valencia had plenty of time to celebrate yet another win in high-scoring fashion, taking another step forward to locking up a playoff spot.

Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv needed extra minutes, but managed to beat Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul 109-101 at Samokov Arena in Bulgaria on Wednesday. Both team now hold 7-5 records in Group A, but Hapoel has swept their regular-season series.

Hapoel seemed in control and had a 10-point lead late in the fourth quarter, but Besiktas finished the regulation with a 2-12 run to send the game into overtime. However, Hapoel scored the first 12 points in the extra session to claim an important win. 

Antonio Blakeney led the winners with 27 points, and Johnathan Motley had 20 for Hapoel. Yam Madar scored 16, and Marcus Foster had 13 in victory. Kyle Allman netted 26 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Besiktas. Jonah Mathews netted 16 points, Dustin Sleva 14 and Emanuel Terry 11 in defeat.

The teams traded baskets early with Kerem Konan scoring twice for the visitors and Motley twice for Hapoel. Allman netted a triple for Besiktas and Derek Needham's basket made it 10-12. But a three-point play by Tomer Ginat got Hapoel in front before Madar and Motley opened a 20-14 lead. Mathews made a jumper and Terry scored inside, but Motley made sure Hapoel led 25-21 after 10 minutes.

Hapoel pulled away to a double-digit margin early in the second behind Blakeney, who drove for a reverse layup and sank back-to-back triples to make it 37-27. Allman scored 6 points, including a triple to cut it to 39-33. Blakeney had his third triple and Joe Ragland a three-point play to open a 45-33 advantage, but Besiktas answered with back-to-back threes from Allman and Sleva, halving the deficit, before Hapoel took a 49-41 lead into halftime.

Terry scored twice inside to keep Besiktas's deficit in single digits, but a triple from Ish Wainright made it 56-47. Terry scored again, followed by jumpers from Allman and Mathews that cut it to 58-53. Foster hit a three-pointer and Motley scored from close range to push the margin to 63-54. Besiktas answered with a 2-11 run, during which Needham and Kelan Martin each made a triple to help tie it at 65-65. Ginat and Blakeney helped Hapoel take a 71-69 edge into the fourth quarter.

Mathews hit a tough shot to give Besiktas a lead, 71-72, but Madar strung together a three-pointer, a three-point play and a short jumper to restore a 7-point margin. Allman and Needham each hit a mid-range jumper, and Martin's driving basket cut it to 83-78 midway through the fourth. However, Blakeney answered with back-to-back triples, his fourth and fifth on as many attempts, as Hapoel opened an 89-78 lead. Allman and Sleva kept the hope alive for Besiktas, then Arslan hit back-to-back threes within 15 seconds, including one in transition to cut it to 93-89 with 1:46 to go. Allman took it to the rim to get within 93-91 and Besiktas tied it at 93-93 with 2 free throws from Sleva after an offensive board with 21.7 to go, sending the game into overtime.

In the extra session, Blakeney scored the first 5 points and Foster the next 5, while Hapoel kept the visitors without a basket in the first 3 minutes. Motley scored inside to make it 105-93, and Hapoel closed out the game.

Ulm carried lessons learned from domestic league loss to record-setting win

Not again’ after wasting a commanding lead in a big game and ending up losing. But the German side took the lessons it learned from a disappointing domestic league loss on Saturday and turned them into a record-setting performance in the BKT EuroCup.

[Ulm torched Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius 114-91](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/ulm-sets-club-scoring-record-in-114-91-victory-over-wolves/) for its fourth straight win as well as a new single-game club scoring record, topping the 110 points the team scored against JL Bourg en Bresse almost exactly two years ago.

“We played two quarters of good defense - in the first and third periods - and we had six players in double figures and we had 22 assists and 12 turnovers. That is pretty good,” said Ulm coach Ty Harrelson. “It’s nice to get a sweep of a quality team like Wolves.”

Ulm came into the home contest with a three-game winning streak in the EuroCup, but Harrelson’s men surrendered a 19-point third-quarter lead in a matchup of first- and second-place teams against MLP Academics Heidelberg and ended up losing 67-69 at home to give up first place in the standings.

Ulm raced out to a 25-point lead against Wolves (45-20) after just 13 minutes of action. The guests fought back into the game and even trimmed the gap to 59-51 early in the second half. But Ulm would not lose another important game in the same manner and regained control with a 22-2 run.

“Being in that situation in back-to-back games where we have big leads in the first half and then a run right before the halftime, I like to think we learned a little bit of a lesson. You can’t expect to win against teams at this level without playing for 40 minutes,” Harrelson said.

“Everything was there. We got back on track. We had a bad half in our last game and our guys definitely wanted to finish it today. I am really proud of them.”

One of the top performers against Wolves was Brazilian big man [Marcio Santos](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/marcio-santos/013289/), who started off hot with 10 of the team’s first 19 points. He ended with a team-high 20 points including 3 of 3 on three-pointers.

“They are different leagues but the other one \[the loss against Heidelberg\] hurt because it was for first place. Today we brought the energy, that excitement for the game and this was the result,” Santos said. 

Ulm has scored 100+ points in back-to-back EuroCup games and is ready to show it can challenge for the crown – especially after its disappointment over the weekend.

Jordan Usher paced Bourg with 24 points.

Jerusalem, which had just eight minutes play more than one minute, had Jared Harper net 26 points, Tarik Phillip score 13, Khadeen Carrington add 11, and Derek Ogbeide contribute 10.

Basketball fans were treated to an offensive show in Montenegro as [Buducnost VOLI Podgorica](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/buducnost-voli-podgorica/bud/) and [Dolomiti Energia Trento](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/dolomiti-energia-trento/trn/) combined for 218 points – the most in any BKT EuroCup game this season and joint 11th most all time.

With the score finishing 110-108 in Buducnost’s favor after one overtime session, those 110 points are the most the hosts have ever scored in the EuroCup. Previously, Buducnost’s best scoring night saw it score 108 points in a [108-80 thrashing against Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/stats/db/U2020/126/#boxscore) on January 12, 2021.

For Trento, it also set a new scoring record with its 108 points. Before Wednesday night, the most points the Italian side had managed in a EuroCup game was [the 105 it scored on January 24, 2018, against… Buducnost](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/game-center/stats/db/U2017/150/#boxscore). That game went to double overtime, and guard [Toto Forray](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/toto-forray/006382/) was involved in both games.

The star man for Buducnost on the night was [Kenan Kamenjas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kenan-kamenjas/008325/), who set a career high with a 34 PIR after posting an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double. He was one of six Buducnost players to get into double figures in scoring, while that was the case for five of the nine Trento players who stepped onto the floor, led by [Jordan Ford](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jordan-ford/013270/) with a game-high 20 points.

It was a game with plenty of ups and downs

The hosts continued their recovery to go ahead in the third quarter and a 12-0 run early in the fourth sealed the win. Elijah Bryant and Dan Oturu paced Efes with 17 points apiece and Shane Larkin dished 12 assists. Filip Petrusev top scored for Zvezda with 15 points.

Alec Peters chipped in with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Marco Belinelli paced Virtus on 20 points and Matt Morgan added 15 for the visitors, who staged a brief second-quarter comeback to turn a 25-7 deficit into a 43-46 lead at halftime, but were unable to keep up their momentum after the interval.

Bayern led by 11 points at the start of the second quarter, but Monaco turned the game around in the second, then used a 20-5 run in the third to pull away for good. Georgios Papagiannis paced Monaco with 14 points. Mike James scored 13, Matthew Strazel and Jordan Loyd had 11 apiece, and Elie Okobo netted 10 points in the win. Carsen Edwards had 17 points for the visitors, Johannes Voigtmann posted 13 and Danko Brankovic scored 11 points in a losing effort.

Buducnost VOLI needed 45 minutes to beat Dolomiti Energia Trento in a 110-108 overtime thriller in Round 12.

Buducnost holds off Trento in an OT thriller, 110-108

It took 45 minutes, but Buducnost VOLI Podgorica managed to secure its fifth win of the 2024-25 BKT EuroCup season by downing Dolomiti Energia Trento 110-108 in overtime on Wednesday night. Both teams came into Round 12 with an identical 4-7 record, yet this result means Buducnost improved to 5-7 while Trento fell to 4-8.

Kenan Kamenjas was Buducnost’s star performer with an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Rasheed Sulaimon netted a team-high 19 points, Juwan Morgan had 15, Fletcher Magee finished with 13, McKinley Wright poured in 12, and Yogi Ferrell chipped in with 11. For Trento, Jordan Ford had a game-high 20 points, Myles Cane scored 19, Eigirdas Zukauskas netted 17, Anthony Lamb added 16, and Andrea Pecchia had 10.

Kamenjas got Buducnost going by scoring 4 points to put the hosts 4-2 ahead, and Nikola Tanaskovic scored 5 straight points soon after to make it 12-10. Trento kept putting points on the board through Lamb, Pecchia and Zukauskas. The two teams kept going back and forth, but Quinn Ellis’s deep two in the final three seconds of the period saw Trento take a 24-25 lead after 10 minutes.

Lamb scored Trento’s first 4 points of the quarter, and Zukauskas hit back-to-back threes, but the visitors only led by two points, 33-35. Buducnost took advantage of three-pointers and three-point plays to stay close, but Cale’s deep two off a third-effort play by Trento saw the Italian side hold a 47-49 advantage at the break.

Kamenjas picked up the baton for Buducnost in the third by netting 7 of his team’s first 12 points of the third, with the hosts up 59-55. Three-pointers were once again important for both sides, with Sulaimon and Ferrell hitting a three apiece before Magee scored a tough fadeaway to make it a double-digit ballgame for the first time, 67-57. When Zukauskas’s layup bounced in with the final act of the third period, it was 77-71 in favor of Buducnost.

Trento did a good job of managing to stay alive in the fourth, with Pecchia draining a wing three and Ellis scoring a fast-break layup halfway through the quarter to make it a three-point game, 84-81. Even though Buducnost had a response for Trento every time, leading 95-89 with 19 seconds to go, Ford hit a three after a steal and assist by Ellis with 5.5 seconds to go, then Sulaimon went 0 for 2 from the line, and at the end-of-regulation buzzer Ford struck from deep to force overtime, with the score 95-95.

Cale scored Trento’s first 5 points in the extra session to put the visitors 97-100 up, but Buducnost soon wrestled back control thanks to Morgan, Ferrell and Kamenjas, who combined as part of a 7-0 run. When Ford turned the ball over, Sulaimon’s fast-break dunk gave Buducnost a six-point advantage at 106-100. There was still life in Trento, though, as the visitors got within 108-105, but a pair of missed free throws by Zukauskas – and the resulting defensive rebound by Morgan – all but wrapped up the result, with Morgan going 2 for 2. Zukaukas struck from three with the final act of the game, as the score finished 110-108.
