The MVP honor for Round 6 of the BKT EuroCup season was shared by three players, who each accumulated a PIR of 37.

[Bryce Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/bryce-jones/012621/) played a leading role in getting Aris Thessaloniki Betsson back to winning ways, with the Greek side beating Slask Wroclaw 85-78. The point guard finished with a career-high 28 points, having made 4-of-8 two-pointers, 1-of-1 three-pointers and 17-of-18 free throws, as well as 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 10 fouls drawn, good for a career-best 37 PIR. His 17 free throws made are the joint second most all-time. This is the second time that Jones has earned MVP of the Round honors this season, having also achieved this honor in Round 1.

[Jared Harper](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jared-harper/011970/) had his best performance of the season so far as Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem downed the previously unbeaten Bahcesehir College Istanbul 82-90 on the road. He posted a season-high 37 PIR after netting a season-best 27 points on 7-of-9 two-point attempts, 2-of-4 triples and 7-of-7 free throws, in addition to 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 9 fouls drawn, and zero turnovers. This is Harper’s seventh career MVP of the Round award and his second this season after taking home this honor in Round 5.

[James Karnik](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/james-karnik/013884/) marked his final appearance for Neptunas Klaipeda in style during a 100-87 triumph over BAXI Manresa. Karnik ended the night with 25 points on 10-of-15 two-pointers and 5-of-6 free throws, together with 13 rebounds, of which 6 were on the offensive end, 2 steals and 7 fouls drawn. He posted career highs in index rating, points, offensive rebounds, rebounds and steals en route to the first MVP of the Round honor of his six-game EuroCup career.

The fourth-best PIR in Round 6 belonged to Bahcesehir’s Malachi Flynn, who tied his career best with a 32 PIR in his team’s defeat to Jerusalem. Flynn posted a career-high 28 points on 7-of-12 two-pointers, 4-of-9 threes and 2-of-3 free throws, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 6 fouls drawn and zero turnovers.

Rounding out the list of top performers is Dolomiti Energia Trento’s DeVante Jones, who had 21 points on 4-of-9 twos, 1-of-3 triples and 10-of-14 free throws, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 13 fouls drawn, good for a career-high 31 PIR, in his team’s 78-74 win against Lietkabelis Panevezys.

### Individual highs: Arnas Velicka, Neptunas, 14 assists

Malachi Flynn and Bryce Jones led all players in scoring in Round 6 with 28 points apiece. U-BT Cluj-Napoca guard Fatts Russell leads the EuroCup in scoring with 24.0 points per game.

James Karnik pulled down a round-high 13 rebounds this week. Veolia Towers Hamburg big man Zacharie Perrin tops the rebounding charts with 10.0 boards per night.

Arnas Velicka of Neptunas Klaipeda dished 14 assists in Round 6, more than any other player. He is also the leader in assists this season with 8.2 dimes per contest.

Robbie Beran of NINERS Chemnitz and Yogi Ferrell of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica made 4 steals apiece in Round 6, the most this week. Turk Telekom Ankara’s Dogus Ozdemiroglu leads the EuroCup in this category with 2.5 steals per game.

Nine players – Turk Telekom trio Kyle Alexander, Berkan Durmaz and Emircan Kosut, Aris’s Jake Forrester, Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse’s Ricky Lindo, Buducnost’s Juwan Morgan, Umana Reyer Venice’s Amedeo Tessitori, and London Lions duo Deane Williams and Johnathan Williams – made a round-high 2 blocks apiece. Manresa’s Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu is this season’s top shot-blocker with 1.6 rejections per night.

Six players recorded a double-double in Round 6: James Karnik (25 points, 13 rebounds), Arnas Velicka (12 points, 14 assists), Jerusalem’s Austin Wiley (14 points, 10 rebounds), Bahcesehir’s Trevion Williams (11 points, 11 rebounds), Bourg’s Kevin Kokila (12 points, 11 rebounds), and Manresa’s Hugo Benitez (10 points, 10 assists).

Resurgent Reyer humbles Hamburg for record victory

"We are ready,” affirmed Umana Reyer Venice coach Neven Spahija, before earning a club record 35-point victory over a winless Veolia Towers Hamburg team.

Despite some travel disruption, Spahija’s team won a recent domestic game while playing below the level they would like. With optimum preparation, they didn’t have such issues on Wednesday night, as they overcame a rough first quarter to totally dominate their German opponents, eventually winning 90-55 – the club's best point differential in a EuroCup game, beating their previous record of 26.

No strangers to adversity this season, the Venetians have bounced back from losing their first two EuroCup games of the season. The only game they have lost since then was by a single point in overtime, to U-BT Cluj-Napoca. Reyer now holds a 3-3 record and is showing no signs of stopping the momentum.

“We played the game just as we practiced. Everybody was ready, everybody was healthy and we shared the minutes. The energy was the right energy,” said Spahija.

As well as sharing minutes, they shared the offensive load, unselfishly scoring as a unit throughout, primarily doing the majority of their damage in the paint. Each Reyer player made a dent in the scoring column, creating extreme challenges for Hamburg, who could not contain them. Kyle Wiltjer was the headlining act, recording 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Smashing another club EuroCup record, Reyer also totalled 56 rebounds, commanding the boards with ease.

“It feels great. EuroCup’s a tough competition, so every time we win, we want to be happy as a group,” said Wiltjer. “We need to be unselfish and be a complete team. Right now, we’re playing great defense and attacking unselfishly, so just have to keep being positive.”

Positivity is harder to come by for Hamburg, which fell to 0-6 with the brutal loss. Still winless in European and domestic competition, Coach Benka Barloschsky’s side are desperate for a change of fortune. Though the loss will hurt, the young head coach found silver linings in how his team looked when executing properly.

“I think that when we stuck to the plan and we created the shots that we wanted to create, there were some opportunities,” Barloschky said. “We didn’t take our opportunities tonight, we didn’t make the shots from the three-point line, didn’t finish at the rim. When we defended 5-on-5, we looked well, but obviously when you don’t make shots, it invites the other team to run, which is what Venice does best, they run, they play very fast and that’s what blew the game open tonight.”

In their desperate quest for a win, Hamburg will face Slask Wroclaw (2-3) on Tuesday. Elsewhere, Reyer hopes to carry its brilliant form to Slovenia on Wednesday, when it competes against Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in a tough clash.

Balanced Ulm ends losing skid thanks to returning players

But it was two returners from last season who really carried the German side to an important home victory over the [London Lions](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/london-lions/lli/) to end a losing streak. 

Ulm had lost its last five games in all competitions – including two in the BKT EuroCup – before getting a balanced effort in holding on for an 87-86 win to improve to a 4-2 record in Group B. 

“We had six players in double figures, which is something we had been wanting. We wanted to get the ball moving again - play with a style that the opponent doesn’t know who’s going to get the next basket,” said Ulm head coach Ty Harrelson.

[Nelson Weidemann](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/nelson-weidemann/006245/) scored 17 points, [Len Schoormann](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/len-schoormann/009180/) had 14 points, [Chris Ledlum](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/christopher-ledlum/013968/) picked up 11 and [Tobias Jensen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/tobias-jensen/010726/), [Malik Osborne](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/malik-osborne/013916/) and [Diego Garavaglia](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/diego-garavaglia/012115/) chipped in 10 points apiece. 

Weidemann was excellent all game but drained two big three-pointers in the final 3 minutes while also tallying 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jensen also had 3 assists and 3 steals.

“Once we lost the lead down the stretch, a couple of our returners – Nelson Weidemann and Tobias Jensen – made really big plays,” Harrelson said. 

Ulm used a 15-4 run spanning halftime for a 48-36 lead. But London answered right back with a 2-16 surge to pull ahead. The hosts punched back with eight of the next 10 points and never let London reclaim the lead.

London was down 80-73 with under 2 minutes to go and [Kameron McGusty](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kameron-mcgusty/014111/) converted back-to-back three-point plays to pull within one point. Weidemann hit his second late triple at the other end and Ulm finished the game from the line – Schoormann knocking down two with 16 seconds to go and Garavaglia making the winning ones with 2.7 seconds remaining. 

“I think Len Schoormann played a great game today,” Harrelson said. “He drove the ball, he made some nice passes and some big plays.”

Schoormann, who contributed 1 rebound, 1 assist and 3 steals, added: “We moved the ball side to side pretty well. We played as a team and tried to keep their points down.”

Ulm’s defense did a good job forcing London into miscues with 22 turnovers – the key number in the game, according to London head coach Tautvydas Sabonis.

“Twenty-two turnovers is 22 times we can’t shoot, 22 times we can’t get a rebound. In a game you lose by one point, that says it all,” the Lions coach said. 

London fell to 2-4 in the group as it could not take advantage of a career-high 23 points from [Tarik Phillip](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/tarik-phillip/009649/) while McGusty had 18 points. 

Ulm’s defense has struggled all year with 94.6 points per game allowed, the second-most in the league. But London had the worst offense in the EuroCup with just 72.8 points per game. 

“We played really good defense in the first half. I am just proud of how our team found a way to win in the end,” Harrelson said.

Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem made a statement win, handing Bahcesehir College its first loss of the season with an 82-90 victory. Staying composed and in control for most of the night, the visitors held their ground even as Bahcesehir mounted a late comeback in the fourth quarter, sealing a well-earned win on the road.

‘‘It’s a big one for us.’’ Jared Harper said after the game. ‘‘I know that they are the first in the group right now, we were just looking to come out here and prove ourselves. I feel like we’ve had a lot of ups and downs to start the season, but we came out here and proved that we are one of the best teams in the competition and I feel like we did that as a team tonight.’’

Harper set the tone from the opening minutes, taking control early and leading Jerusalem with 15 points in the first half. The American guard attacked the paint with purpose, exploiting gaps in Bahcesehir's defense and dictating the tempo with his one-on-one creation. He kept the pressure on throughout the night and finished with 27 points, 4 assists and a game-high PIR of 37.

Jerusalem attacked the basket with purpose on offense, finishing the game with a 58% two-point shooting rate. Points in transition proved critical throughout the night, keeping the visitors in control even as Bahcesehir tried to fight back late.

Austin Wiley dominated the paint, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double, asserting an inside presence that Bahcesehir struggled to match. Justin Smith also contributed with 16 points, many of which were set up by his teammates through pick-and-rolls.

The key factor in stopping Bahcesehir, which had been unbeaten while averaging 94.0 points per game, was Jerusalem’s defense. From the opening tip, Hapoel protected the paint effectively, limiting easy opportunities for Bahcesehir.

After the balanced performance, Coach Yonatan Alon reflected on the win: ‘‘I think the key was to play a little bit faster and start the offense quick and to play with pace. And defense, to do the right stops. Obviously, they took 20 offensive rebounds; this is unacceptable.’

‘‘It’s a big win, it’s a good result for us. But like I say every week, we still can play much better. We still can take much more for ourselves we are on the way, we will be there.’’

Both teams struggled from beyond the arc throughout the game, with Jerusalem shooting just 27.8% and Bahcesehir hitting 29.4% from three. Yovel Zoosman was critical for Jerusalem from deep, knocking down 3 three-pointers to help his team maintain control.

Reflecting on the win, Zoosman said: “I think we had the right mindset tonight, even when they came back. They’re a very good team and we knew they’d make their runs. A team with a lot of talent. We stayed with it, stayed focused, and didn't lose concentration.”

For Bahcesehir, Malachi Flynn carried the offense early, pouring in 28 points to keep his team within reach. Hunter Hale emerged in the second half, fueling their late push with 12 points, including three timely three-pointers. Trevion Williams held down the paint with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, but despite their efforts, Bahcesehir couldn’t fully close the gap.

Aris's first-half defense seals the deal 

Sometimes, basketball comes down to something as simple as the ball not going in. That’s exactly what Slask Wroclaw experienced in the first quarter of its Round 6 game against Aris Thessaloniki Betsson. From missed dunks to unforced turnovers, everything went wrong for Slask, resulting in a negative record that had stood for over two decades.

Slask missed its first seven shots—five of them from beyond the arc—without committing a single turnover. Aris’s defense was sharp, and it paid off. [Arnas Kulboka](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/arnoldas-kulboka/006180/) and [Bryce Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/bryce-jones/012621/) combined for 8 points in a 10-0 opening run that allowed the hosts to take control of the game from the very beginning. [Jakub Urbaniak](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jakub-urbaniak/012777/) attempted a dunk, but the ball hit the front of the rim, bounced up, and fell through the net for Slask’s first basket of the game. Just a minute later, Urbaniak had another uncontested dunk attempt, which he incredibly missed.

Things continued to unravel. [Issuf Sanon](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/issuf-sanon/011947/) came off the bench and missed an uncontested layup—the ball simply went in and out. [Stefan Djordjevic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/stefan-dordevic/006977/), who had been an 80.0% free throw shooter this season, missed all four of his attempts from the line in the first quarter. Djordjevic scored around the basket at the end of the quarter to bring Slask within 21-6.

Slask made just 2 of 18 field goal attempts in the first quarter, missed all 7 of its three-point shots, and finished with a team PIR of -4. The team didn’t execute poorly, but missing open shots and failing to find effective ways to break Aris’s defense led to a historic low.

"They punched us in the mouth in the first quarter," Slask guard [Noah Kirkwood](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/noah-kirkwood/013920/) said at halftime. "We are not playing together right now. We are not playing our brand of basketball and we have to bring something, and that comes with energy in the second half."

It was Slask’s worst scoring quarter in its EuroCup history. The previous low was 7 points in the second quarter of a 59-57 home win against Telekom Baskets Bonn on January 18, 2005.

"I think what's most important is that we played defense," Kulboka said at the break. "With defense comes everything, offense is flowing but everything starts on the defensive end and I think that if we control the defensive rebound a little bit better, we are going to be up \[by\] 40."

Of course, it takes two to tango. Aris played a solid game, snapping a three-game losing streak. The hosts extended their lead to 31-8 and went on to control the game, backed by a loud and passionate crowd. Slask needed 13 three-point shots to bury its first, when Sanon downed one off the dribble with less than 3 minutes left in the first half. The hosts used their physicality to dominate the boards and go to the foul line often. Added to Slask's 25 missed shots before the break, Aris won the battle of the boards 24-18, made 7 of 11 two-pointers (63.6% 2FG) and 21 of 22 free throws (95.5% FT). All that gave Aris a 50-30 halftime lead.

"We were soft. We did everything that we prepared but missed seven layups," Slask coach [Ainars Bagatskis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/slask-wroclaw/wro/bagatskis-ainars) said. "I don't know what is the team practicing if you miss seven layups, and we made some of their team's players like real superstars. They did whatever they wanted. We have to be playing with respect, first of all."

Slask got the message and fought back, getting within 81-76 in the final minute. Jones sealed Aris's victory from the free throw line. Jones was the best player on the floor, finishing the game with 28 points on 17-of-18 free throw shooting for a PIR of 35. After the game, Jones was glad that his team stopped Slask's fourth-quarter comeback.

"Up 20 points, sometimes you tend to get relaxed but we are not in no position to be relaxed at all. I am happy we came out with the win at the end of the day, but we still have a lot of work on, a lot to improve. That's about it, I am happy that we won," Jones said. "Being up by a lot of points, sometimes you might think the game is over, but this is one of the best competitions in the world. Everybody is going to fight for each possession, nobody is going to give up. Historic things happen all the time. I am just happy it didn't happen tonight."

Cedevita didn’t start the game as it may have hoped. [Fatts Russell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/daron-russell/013943/) and [Dusan Miletic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dusan-miletic/009896/) netted 5 each, with [Iverson Molinar](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/iverson-molinar/013926/) scoring 7 as [U-BT Cluj-Napoca](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/u-bt-cluj-napoca/clu/) secured a 22-15 lead after 10 minutes. The hosts dictated the tempo and punished the Slovenian side with their offensive prowess.

But everything changed in the second quarter, with Cedevita pushing back and dictating the tempo by preventing the hosts from speeding up the pace.

“We controlled the rhythm of the game in the second quarter to slow down the game a bit, because it’s very difficult to play in transition rhythm against the players of Cluj, \[as\] they are really dangerous and everybody can score,” Mitrovic stressed in the post-game press conference.

[Jaka Blazic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jaka-blazic/003452/) came off the bench to inspire a comeback run, with the guests holding Cluj to 17 points and taking a 39-44 lead into the second half.

“A slow start, but we managed to pick our rhythm, especially defensively – that’s the key of this game,” [Aleksej Nikolic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/aleksej-nikolic/003703/) explained at halftime. “We just played better defense, boxed out, got the rebounds, scored some easy shots and got some rhythm.”

Cedevita had already laid the foundation. The duel turned into a game of runs after the break, with Cluj going on an 8-3 surge to tie it at 47-47. However, Cedevita responded with a 0-7 run of its own and kept absorbing Cluj’s comeback attempts until the very last whistle.

The hosts even took the lead when a triple from [Mitch Creek](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/mitchell-creek/013927/) with 6:30 left made it 76-75. What followed was a 0-7 spurt to reestablish a safety cushion that Cedevita maintained throughout.

“Every time they pushed and wanted to come back, we responded really well,” Nikolic added after the game. “In tough moments, we made tough shots and that’s the key to win on the road.”

Despite heading into Wednesday’s clash as the best offense in the EuroCup, Cluj managed 10 points less than its season average (97.6). Russell, who leads the league’s scoring charts, may have ended the game on 21 points, but Cedevita managed to force 5 fouls from Cluj's dominant big Miletic, who featured for just over 14 minutes.

More importantly, in a stop-start battle of numerous fouls, Cedevita managed to remain calm from the charity stripe, going 27-for-31 on free throws. 

“In a game like this, if you miss a lot of free throws, it’s very difficult to win it,” Mitrovic declared.

Having improved its record to 4-2, the Slovenian side is set to host four of its next five EuroCup games. Following Wednesday’s statement road win against Cluj, Cedevita will look to keep its momentum going in next week’s clash against Umana Reyer Venice.

James Karnik posted a double-double to help Neptunas Klaipeda blast BAXI Manresa 100-87 in Round 6 of the BKT EuroCUp in what will be his final game with the club

James Karnik lifted Neptunas in his farewell game to overwhelm Manresa 

With 6 minutes and 10 seconds left in the game, Arnas Velicka and James Karnik headed to the bench to be substituted. They would not play together again for the rest of the game - and there was no need. Both had done their job to perfection, helping Neptunas Klaipeda build a 20-point lead at that moment, 92-72, effectively securing their third win of the season, this time against BAXI Manresa.

Both players set new personal highs on a magical night for their team, Neptunas, which convincingly defeated BAXI Manresa 100-87. The Lithuanian side never trailed in the game, enjoying leads of over 20 points at different moments in the second half.

Velicka set a personal best in assists (13), while Karnik set new highs in points (25), rebounds (13), and PIR (37). He accomplished this in just 23:46 of playing time. The Czech center delivered his best performance to date, fittingly in what - as he revealed at the end - was his last game wearing the Neptunas jersey.

“Yeah, I fully think it was \[our best game of the season so far\],” Karnik acknowledged. “I'm going to take a moment to say something real quick. I hope you guys don't mind my chat. I got some things to say... because unfortunately, this is actually my last game with Neptunas, I got some personal things that I'm gonna have to head home for.

“First, I want to say thank you to the GM Martynas \[Mazeika\]. He is an amazing guy. He's worked with me so well. I also want to thank the coaches. They made such a great, welcoming atmosphere. Honestly it makes it such a loving experience, and it's a great, great thing."

After posting a perfect shooting game in the previous road win against Cedevita, Karnik seemed to have clicked with the team, and especially with his teammate Arnas Velicka, whose passing game benefited Karnik in a very special way.

“I want to thank my teammates. They made my job so easy”, Karnik continued. “As Arnas Velicka, man. He is going to make it to the NBA. I love his game. He's such a good player.”

Karnik and Velicka both posted a double-double in the same game, something you do not see often in European basketball. Karnik finished with 25 points and 13 boards, while Velicka tallied 12 points and 14 dimes. Their performance was a key factor in carrying Neptunas to a peaceful, winning night.

Neptunas head coach Gediminas Petrauskas praised all his players, avoiding any individual recognition.

“It's not about individual performances,” he said. “But when you win, each player contributes to the team, and we're happy for each of the players that step on the court.”

Petrauskas also wanted to be cautious when talking about the future, despite the good feelings his team is showing now after three consecutive victories: “Now, we need to concentrate on the next one and then on the next one and on the next one.”

And sadly for Neptunas, those next ones will be without James Karnik.

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana returned to winning ways by beating U-BT Cluj-Napoca 87-93 at BTarena on Wednesday evening. The hosts started strong and took a 22-15 lead into the second quarter, but Cedevita outscored them 17-29 and secured a 39-44 cushion at halftime. Cluj fought back in the second half, however the visitors soaked up pressure to seal the outcome. 

The Slovenian side recorded its first win in three games and improved its record to 4-2, with the hosts dropping to 3-3. DJ Stewart paced Cedevita with 17 points and DJ Stewart scored 15, with Aleksej Nikolic adding 14. Daron Russell led all scorers with 21 points, Iverson Molinar netted 19 and Mitchell Creek had 14.

Neptunas Klaipeda claimed a convincing 100-87 win over visiting BAXI Manresa at Svyturio Arena on Wednesday evening. The home team built a double-digit lead, 27-17, in the first quarter and grew it to a game-high 69-46 advantage in the third, before navigating peacefully through till the end. The Lithuanians got their third straight win to go 3-3 in Group A after 6 rounds, while Manresa dropped to 3-3 after earning second loss in a row.

James Karnik and Arnas Velicka posted double-doubles of 25 points and 13 boards, and 12 points and 14 assists respectively, to lead Neptunas. Donatas Tarolis scored 20 points and Richard Lomasz followed with 18 for the winners. Manresa was led by Retin Obasohan, who chipped in 18 points in as many minutes. Alex Reyes followed with 12, Agustin provided 10, and Hugo Benitez finished with a double-double of 10 and 10 assists in the losing effort.

Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem earned a crucial 82-90 win over Bahcesehir College Istanbul at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade, Serbia, improving to 4-2 in Group A and handing Bahcesehir its first loss of the BKT EuroCup season. Jerusalem controlled the pace for most of the game, leading through three quarters. Bahcesehir mounted a late comeback in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough. Jared Harper’s impact on both ends, combined with strong interior play and defensive execution, secured the win for Hapoel.

Harper led the way with 27 points and 4 assists for a PIR of 37. Justin Smith added 16 points, Austin Wiley posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Yovel Zoosman contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds. For Bahcesehir, Malachi Flynn had 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Hunter Hale scored 12 points, Trevion Williams recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Tyler Cavanaugh added 11 points.

Bryce Jones led the winners with 28 points on 17-of-18 free-throw shooting. Arnas Kulboka added 20 and Bryn Forbes scored 12 for Aris. Issuf Sanon paced Slask with 20 points off the bench, Kadre Gray netted 14 and Noah Kirkwood had 10 for the visitors. Aris led 21-6 after 10 minutes and extended its margin to 50-30 at halftime. Slask rallied to get within 81-76 with 27.7 seconds left before Jones sealed the outcome from the foul line.

Umana Reyer Venice earned a comfortable 90-55 victory over Veolia Towers Hamburg on Wednesday night at Palasport Taliercio. The 35-point win smashes their previous EuroCup record win differential of 26. 

Winless Hamburg made a strong start, taking an early 7-2 lead to create a rare sense of optimism. They managed to hold the lead for the majority of the opening quarter, but Reyer clawed their way back into the contest just moments before the first period ended. In the second quarter, Reyer grabbed hold of the contest, opening up a double-digit advantage with just 15 minutes played. From that point onwards, the Venetians refused to surrender control. 

The hosts shared the offensive loads tremendously well. Kyle Wiltjer played the starring role, recording 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. More impressively, each Reyer player made a dent in the scoring column, creating extreme challenges for Hamburg. The result means that – despite losing their first two EuroCup games – Reyer moves to 3-3 for the campaign. Humbled Hamburg, on the other hand, falls to 0-6.

Turk Telekom Ankara secured a 95-67 win over Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens at Ankara Sports Hall in the Round 6 opener on Tuesday to improve to 4-2 in Group B. After a closely contested first half, Turk Telekom returned from halftime with a much more aggressive defense in the third quarter and extending the lead to 30 points to seal the victory with time to spare. 

Michael Devoe led the way for Turk Telekom with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for a PIR of 26. Jaleen Smith added 20 points and 5 rebounds, while Jordan Usher contributed 13 points. For Panionios, Keron DeShields scored 17 points in his debut with the team, Markel Starks added 11 and Giorgos Tsalmpouris chipped in 10 points.

Buducnost earned its first win in three meetings with Besiktas and improved to 4-2 in Group B after coming out on top in a thrilling rollercoaster played in a fervent atmosphere. Rasheed Sulaimon paced the home team on 20 points, Yogi Ferrell chipped in with 13 while Juwan Morgan racked up 12 and 6 boards. Anthony Brown led Besiktas on 15 points and 7 boards, Devon Dotson scored 14 points and Vitto Brown added 13 for the visitors, who dropped to 4-2.

Besiktas made a fast and furious start on offense, sinking its first four shots from downtown to take a 6-14 lead. The Turkish side kept firing on all cylinders to grind out a 21-26 advantage at the end of the first quarter. More good shooting from long range allowed the visitors to surge 29-38 early in the second, with Anthony Brown on fire. Buducnost stepped up a gear and engineered a 9-0 run to draw level and then nosed ahead 47-45 at halftime.

The home team kept up the pressure as it pulled away to 56-47 early in the third quarter and although Besiktas closed in to 60-59, Buducnost found another gear again to lead 70-61 ahead of the final 10 minutes, with Sulaimon, Ferrell and Morgan running the show. Besiktas drew level, 74-74, as Vitto Brown made some big shots midway through the fourth quarter. Anthony Brown then made a three-point play as he sank a tough turnaround jumper, sinking a free throw too after he drew a foul in the process to give the visitors a 77-79 lead. Buducnost forced the final twist, however, as Sulaimon nailed a tough floater followed by a free throws, while Besiktas fell short of forcing overtime when Anthony Brown shot an air ball on the buzzer.

Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse fought back from a disappointing first half to defeat NINERS Chemnitz, 85-82, in a thriller on Tuesday night at Ekinox Arena. The undermanned NINERS led 41-36 at the break, but Bourg rallied hard with 8 minutes to go, when it was 13 points behind. Mistakes started to creep in for a tired-looking NINERS team and with just over 3 minutes remaining, the French team tied the game with a three.

Both Gach made tremendous plays down the stretch to make the difference, inspiring a full comeback for the hosts. Despite a gutsy late three from Corey Davis Jr., NINERS – who had just five men available through fouls in the final seconds – just didn’t have enough. When the final buzzer sounded, Bourg had secured the victory to move to the top of the group, with a record of 5-1.

Gach led the way in scoring for Bourg with 18 points, while also pulling down 7 boards. Kevin Kokila carried a heavy load for Frederic Fauthoux’s team with a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Darius McGhee, Adam Mokoka and Will McDowell-White also scored in double figures. Davis paced NINERS with 25 points and 5 assists.

Trento saw leads of 14 and 10 points disappear, but still managed to hold on thanks to 20 offensive rebounds. The victory saw Trento's record improve to 3-3. 

DeVante Jones led the way with 21 points, DJ Steward had 17 points and Peyton Aldridge added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Lietkabelis dropped its fifth straight game to fall to 1-5 on the season despite Michael Flowers pairing 19 points with 7 assists and Augustine Rubit adding 18 points.

Dolomiti Energia Trento used a major rebounding advantage to keep Lietkabelis Panevezys reeling and get itself back on track with its first home victory in the BKT EuroCup.

Trento grabbed 20 offensive rebounds en route to a 78-74 win over Lietkabelis - twice giving up double-digit leads, but still prevailing.

“The team played a solid game. We made our mistakes, but it was important for us to take this win at home,” Trento head coach Massimo Cancellieri said in the post-game interview. “We needed it for us. We wanted to get back on track a little bit.”

“With that first half, we didn’t deserve to win - it doesn’t matter how we played in the second half. To play defense like that in the first half - without rebounds, not running - we didn’t deserve to win,” said Lietkabelis head coach Nenad Canak.

The Lithuanian side managed only 31 first-half points and was outrebounded 25-12. Lietkabelis also could not take better advantage of 10 Trento turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

Lietkabelis crashed to a fifth straight loss and saw its record drop to 1-5. Not even Michael Flowers scoring 19 points with 7 assists and Augustine Rubit adding 18 points was enough.

Cancellieri can thank his team’s effort on the offensive glass as six players snatched multiple offensive rebounds. The Italian side outrebounded Lietkabelis 47-31, including a 20-9 advantage in offensive boards, which resulted in a 19-11 scoring difference in second-chance points in Trento’s favor.

That was all the more impressive given that limiting the opposing team’s offensive rebounds was a strength for Lietkabelis, which had conceded a EuroCup-low 8.0 offensive rebounds coming into the game.

While Peyton Aldridge and Andrej Jakimovski combined for 7 offensive rebounds, Trento's scoring punch was handled by DeVante Jones and DJ Steward, who scored 21 and 17 points, respectively and combined for 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

“We are just trying to win. Our team is doing a good job playing with more confidence. The coaches are doing a great job pushing us to get better each and every day. We just gotta keep going,” said Jones.

The guard was there whenever Trento needed a score, registering 13 fouls drawn, which he turned into 10 made free throws.

Trento made things more difficult for itself than it had to be. The team watched Lietkabelis go on a 5-19 run to erase a 14-point lead in the third quarter and then an 8-18 surge to even the game 68-68.

But it was a matter of bending, not breaking, for Trento, which never allowed Lietkabelis to pull ahead. Steward and Jones made the big plays down the stretch - combining for 8 of Trento’s final 10 points to get the win.

Trento is back on track with what it has done at home recently in the EuroCup. The Italian club registered a 4-5 record in front of its home fans in each of the last three seasons and its fans surely hope the team has turned a corner in the EuroCup.
