[Amadou Sow](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/amadou-sow/012598/) has made a major impact on a [NINERS Chemnitz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/niners-chemnitz/nin/) team that is on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs in its first-ever season in the BKT EuroCup. And the Malian forward credits European veteran [Edo Muric](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/edo-muric/003515/) for helping him through one of the toughest periods of his professional career.

Sow ranks third on the Chemnitz roster in scoring at 11.9 points per game, while adding a team-second-best 5.1 rebounds per contest. He also contributes 0.6 assists and 0.4 steals per game in his second EuroCup season.

The 2.06-meter big man actually made his EuroCup debut during the 2023–24 season with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, averaging 7.5 points and 5.4 rebounds in 11 games, eight of them as a starter.

Sow’s promising season came to an abrupt end on December 13, 2023, when he tore his ACL during a EuroCup game at Joventut Badalona.

“When I found out it was an ACL, I was pretty down,” Sow, who had turned 25 just a month earlier, told David Hein.

“But I had an amazing support system with my wife, my friends at the University of California–Santa Barbara, and their staff. Everybody was very supportive, which made the journey back even easier.”

Sow waited a month before undergoing surgery in mid-January 2024 in Santa Barbara, where he played his college basketball. That marked the beginning of a long road back.

“The biggest advice I got throughout the whole process was patience. Make sure you feel comfortable getting back out there,” Sow said. “I waited 11 months, and by then I felt ready and confident in my body, which allowed me to make my comeback.”

That advice came from Muric, who was recovering from the same injury at the time. The veteran forward tore his ACL in June 2023 while playing with the Slovenian national team and missed the FIBA World Cup 2023. Muric eventually returned to the court in September 2024 at the start of the 2024–25 season.

“The biggest thing he stressed was patience,” Sow said of Muric. “There are going to be days when you’re down. There are going to be days when it feels like everything is falling apart. But in reality, it’s not. It’s just a mental battle.

“He had the same surgery and was coming back from it himself. Every question I had, I went to him. He always gave me the advice I needed to hear to keep going, which was huge for me – having someone like that.”

Sow said he began missing basketball almost immediately after the injury.

“It happened in the third quarter, and by the fourth quarter I was already itching to get back in,” he said. “After surgery, it took a good couple of months before I could step back on the court, start jumping, and doing all the movements again. But it was worth it.”

The timing of the surgery and recovery proved somewhat disadvantageous. During the summer, Sow was not yet cleared for contact or the physical demands of the game. He continued training and participated in his first full 5-on-5 action in late July or early August. By then, however, many players were already in training camps or preparing to return to college or head overseas.

Sow said he felt ready to return to professional basketball around November or December 2024. He finally got the opportunity on January 9, 2025, when SIG Strasbourg announced it had signed him through the end of the season.

“It was huge. I was very happy to be back and playing again, especially in Strasbourg, a league I was already somewhat familiar with,” said Sow, who played his first professional season with French club ADA Blois Basket 41 in 2022–23. “It also helped being with players I’d played with before. I played with [Brice Dessert](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/brice-dessert/010318/) in my first year in France, and he was in Strasbourg. Seeing familiar faces made it even better.”

Sow delivered solid production for the rest of the season, averaging 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, highlighted by a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds against Saint-Quentin.

After finishing the season strong, Sow opted to move to Germany to join Chemnitz – a team he had considered after his first professional season in 2023 before ultimately choosing Cedevita.

“I chose to play in the EuroCup instead of the FIBA Europe Cup, where Chemnitz was competing that season,” he said. “That decision was huge in terms of competition, improving my game, and understanding basketball at a higher level. After the injury, they reached out again and wanted me to join. I really liked the structure here – the coach, the environment, and how they develop players and put them on the right path. All of that really appealed to me.”

“That was a crazy experience,” Sow said. “Those guys are big names, legends in their countries. They have incredible knowledge of European basketball. Just learning the small details, the daily preparation, and seeing how they still perform at a high level at that age was huge for me.”

Now back in the EuroCup with Chemnitz, Sow approaches the game with a different perspective – one shaped in part by the 11 months he spent away from the court.

“It was a learning experience,” he said. “Seeing myself at my lowest point and building myself back up to where I am now – back on the EuroCup stage – has been an incredible journey. It helped me learn more about myself and how to grow through the toughest moments.”

Harper scored a season-high 30 points on 5-of-8 two-pointers, 2-of-8 three-pointers and 14-of-16 free throws, while also adding 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 13 fouls drawn for a PIR of 33, the highest of any player in Round 17. It marked Harper’s third MVP of the Round award this season, after previously earning the honor in Rounds 5 and 6. He was named MVP of the Round five times last season.

The next-best index ratings in Round 17 belonged to Slask Wroclaw’s [Kadre Gray](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kadre-gray/013921/) and NINERS Chemnitz’s [Nike Sibande](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/nike-sibande/013889/), who each posted a PIR of 29. Gray finished with 19 points on 4-of-7 two-pointers, 1-of-3 three-pointers and 8-of-8 free throws, along with 4 rebounds, 10 assists and 8 fouls drawn in Slask’s surprise 80-82 road win over Bahcesehir College Istanbul. Sibande totaled 25 points on 6-of-8 two-pointers, 2-of-6 three-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws, plus 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 7 fouls drawn as Chemnitz defeated Dolomiti Energia Trento 81-67.

Cluj’s [Trey Woodbury](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/trey-woodbury/013251/) recorded a PIR of 28 in his team’s loss to Jerusalem, posting 28 points on 9-of-11 two-pointers, 2-of-7 three-pointers and 4-of-6 free throws, along with 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 fouls drawn.

Rounding out the list of top performers was Woodbury’s Cluj teammate [Patrick Richard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/patrick-richard/011801/). He recorded 19 points on 1-of-2 two-pointers, 3-of-3 three-pointers and 8-of-9 free throws, plus 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 6 fouls drawn.

### Individual highs: Austin Wiley, Jerusalem, 17 rebounds

Jared Harper led all players in scoring in Round 17 with 30 points. Cluj’s Fatts Russell leads the EuroCup in scoring with 19.7 points per game.

Jerusalem big man Austin Wiley pulled down 17 rebounds, the most of any player in this round. Wiley also leads the EuroCup in rebounds with 9.3 per game.

Chemnitz’s Corey Davis Jr. handed out a round-high 11 assists. Neptunas Klaipeda’s Arnas Velicka leads the EuroCup in assists with 7.7 per game.

Juwan Morgan of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica had 5 steals, more than anyone else in this round. Turk Telekom Ankara’s Dogus Ozdemiroglu leads the EuroCup in steals with 2.1 per game.

Austin Wiley also led the way this round in blocks with 4. BAXI Manresa’s Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu leads the EuroCup in blocks with 1.8 per game.

Six players finished with a double-double in Round 17: Austin Wiley (10 points, 17 rebounds), Kadre Gray (19 points, 10 assists), Bahcesehir’s Trevion Williams (11 points, 10 rebounds), Besiktas GAIN Istanbul’s Ante Zizic (12 points, 11 rebounds), Lietkabelis Panevezys’s Fardaws Aimaq (19 points, 14 rebounds), and London Lions’ Shavar Reynolds (14 points, 10 assists).

For the third time this season, the reigning MVP earns MVP of the Round honors

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana turned a potential trap into a statement, controlling the game from the opening minutes and never letting Veolia Towers Hamburg breathe en route to a 74-88 victory on Thursday night. The win sees the Slovenian side improve its record to 11–6 and leaves it squarely in the fight for the number 2 spot in Group A next week.

The performance was so routine that even head coach Zvezdan Mitrovic didn’t anticipate how comfortably it would unfold.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect it,” said Zvezdan Mitrovic, moments after the final buzzer.

Despite his apparent surprise, Coach Mitrovic was pleased with his team’s professionalism in what could have been a banana peel of a game: “My players were really focused from the beginning, for the full 40 minutes, especially on defense, but on offense they were effective too. For us, its very important. I am really happy and want to congratulate all of my players.”

Cedevita opened up a lead midway through the first quarter, scoring as a unit to move ahead and widen a gap that it would not surrender. Hamburg struggled to push back and was ultimately overwhelmed on both ends of the floor. Cedevita remained in control throughout, tightening its grip down the stretch to close it out.

Matthew Hurt dazzled for the hosts with 15 points and 6 rebounds to inspire his team to the convincing victory, but he was quick to attribute the success to his coaches.

“It was about knowing the scouting report, knowing which guys want to go left, which guys want to go right,” said Hurt. “We did a great job executing our game plan and the coaches did a great job getting us ready for this game. They’ve been playing a lot better lately, so we cant take them for granted. We did a good job tonight, I’m proud of ours guys.”

Since joining the team in January, the American forward’s minutes and usage have gradually increased, showing a growing trust in his abilities from Mitrovic and the team, punctuated by this 28-minute contribution. Hurt made it clear after the win that he is only just getting started.

“I like it here”, Hurt stated. “I am just getting comfortable each game that I’m here for and hopefully I can keep getting better.”

Umoja Gibson also helped his team enormously, recording 13 points and 4 dimes. Adding to the offensive onslaught, Aleksej Nikolic and Luka Brajkovic both netted 10. Cedevita’s team defense was a clear differentiator. The visitors played disciplined, swarming D throughout, made evident with their total of 8 steals and 4 blocks.

A huge milestone was reached by Jaka Blazic, who scored 6 points to become the third- highest scorer in EuroCup history with 1,493 career points. He moved passed Errick McCollum to etch his name in history.

The only thing casting a shadow over this otherwise perfect evening for the travelling side was the injury to Thomas Kennedy, who had to leave the game in the second half. His status remained uncertain after the game, but Mitrovic buoyantly expressed his hope that his squad can make up for his absence.

Next week, Hamburg will play its final EuroCup game of the season, hoping to earn its third win of the season and go out on a positive note. Cedevita will face Slask Wroclaw on Tuesday, hoping to move past Bahcesehir College Istanbul for second place.

Slovenian side moves to 11–6 with a commanding all-around performance

Aris defeated Neptunas Klaipeda 83–64, seizing control of the playoff race after both teams entered the game tied for seventh. A dominant second half—highlighted by an 8‑point third quarter for Neptunas—flipped the contest. Bryce Jones credited Aris’s improved physicality, while Igor Milicic lauded the must‑win mentality ahead of the stretch run.

Aris turned a must‑win into a statement, beating Neptunas Klaipeda 83–64 to keep its playoff push alive. The two teams entered the night tied for seventh, but Aris’s second‑half dominance and a suffocating third quarter flipped the race in the hosts’ favor.

“For us, this is the most important game of the season, and I’m trying to put this mentality to my players,” Aris head coach Igor Milicic explained just minutes before tipoff against Neptunas Klaipeda.

Despite losing four of their last five games, the Greek side arrived in good spirits after a resounding domestic win over EuroLeague powerhouse Panathinaikos Athens the previous weekend.

That momentum didn’t translate early. Neptunas took control in the first quarter, leading 21–16 behind an unstoppable Rihards Lomazs. The Latvian guard stayed hot in the second period, finishing the first half with 19 points on an impressive 6-of-7 shooting, helping the visitors trail by just six at halftime, 40–34.

But everything changed after the break. Lomazs would not score again, and the blackout extended to the rest of his team.

“I think our effort in the second half changed the game,” Aris guard Bryce Jones said afterward. “Lomazs got off to a hot start. We just had to key in on him. He was the only guy who really had it going for them. Once we figured that out, we just wanted to be extra physical. I feel like they were too comfortable in the first half doing what they wanted. In the second half, we were more physical with them and used our athleticism to our advantage.”

That adjustment completely shifted the game’s rhythm. Neptunas managed just 8 points in the third quarter and recorded a -3 PIR in those 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Aris went a perfect 9-of-9 on two-pointers, scoring 25 points to build a comfortable lead, 52–36, midway through the period. Jones added 6 points and 2 assists in that stretch, helping establish the foundation for what would become an easy win. The hosts never looked back and kept stretching the gap.

“It got us a good lead, and this time we sustained it,” Jones celebrated. “We kept building from it, got it up to around 30 points. That’s a big step for us. Normally, we’ve been having leads and then losing them, making it close. Now we’re showing signs that we can put teams away. That’s a good sign heading into the end of the season.”

The victory, combined with U-BT Cluj-Napoca’s loss, leaves Aris on the verge of securing a playoff spot with a win in Romania next week - an improvement over last year’s performance.

“The next one is just as critical,” Jones said. “I feel like if we have the same mindset that we have now going into that game, I think we’ll have a great chance of winning. I believe in this team. We just need the support, which we have, and we’ve got to go in there, focus, play physical, and do what we do: play together, and we should come out with a win.”

“We are really happy that we stepped up big when we needed it the most. That was a do-or-die game,” Milicic reflected. “We keep ourselves in the race for the second round, so we cannot ask for more. I think this is a big, big step forward for us, especially compared to last year, when the team had only three wins. This year, we are chasing the second stage until the very last round. Umana Reyer Venice put together a strong defensive stand in the second half to slow down BAXI Manresa and book a spot in the playoffs.

Reyer allowed only 26 points over the final 20 minutes in a 75-91 road victory for its sixth win in the last seven games to improve to 10-7 and earn a ticket to the postseason.

“I have to congratulate our guys for an amazing effort in the second half. We understood that we could not win the game if they score another 50 points in a half. Manresa is playing an amazing basketball - so much pace, so much aggressiveness on both ends of the court. Today they finished the game with 75 points, which is not usually the case for Manresa,” said Reyer head coach Neven Spahija.

“It was a very important victory because now we are 2-0 over Manresa and that means a lot for the standings.”

Manresa came into the game having scored 96.2 points over the last eight games - seven of them wins. But Manresa could not get control of Reyer guard RJ Cole, who scored a career-high 25 points with 5 assists. Kyle Wiltjer poured in 15 points, Carl Wheatle had 13 points and Amedeo Tessitori and Denzel Valentine both chipped in 11 points and combined for 17 rebounds and 5 steals.

“We just had a will to win today. We knew how hard it is to win on the road. But we stayed together no matter what was going on out there and we just trusted one another,” said Cole, whose previous scoring high was 20 points. “It was an important win. We knew what was at stake. We stayed together and found a way to get the win.”

The first quarter was tight with 4 points being the biggest lead with three lead changes and four ties, including it being knotted 24-24 after 10 minutes.

Alex Reyes drained 2 three-pointers in an 11-0 Manresa run to pull ahead 39-31 and another Reyes triple made it 47-37. The visitors finished the first half strong and trailed 49-47 at the break. Reyer put together a 3-10 spurt to build a 57-63 lead, but the game was deadlocked at 66-66 after 30 minutes.

Reyer made 2 triples to start the fourth quarter and then Cole sparked the deciding run with the first 9 points of a 0-15 surge to blow the game open 71-87.

Manresa entered the game with four straight wins but now is 10-7 despite Retin Obasohan scoring 17 points and Reyes finishing with 13 points.

“It was clear. They played much better than us. They moved the ball. We were not able to take advantage in the final 5 minutes because their defense killed us. The BKT EuroCup produced one of the most dramatic games of the season in Round 17 as Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse ground out an 86-85 home win over the London Lions and booked an automatic quarterfinal berth by sealing a top-two finish in Group B with a game to spare.

Bourg, which improved to 13-4 and stayed top of the Group ahead of Besiktas GAIN Istanbul (12-5), will head to Buducnost VOLI Podgorica next week knowing that a win would seal the group’s top spot ahead of the postseason.

The top two teams from both groups get a bye in the first knockout round of the competition, where eight teams – four from each group - will fight it out for the four remaining quarterfinal spots. Bourg must have thought it was heading for those rocky waters after London wiped out a 44-34 halftime deficit and took a seemingly unassailable 73-83 lead with just 1:17 minutes left on the clock.

The home fans prayed for a miracle and the duo of Darius McGhee and Assemain Moulare delivered as they scored 12 of the home team’s last 13 points in a frantic climax to a rollercoaster that will long live in the memory of the home faithful.

McGhee unleashed his venom as he buried a pair of shots from deep coupled with 3 straight free throws, before Moulare hit nothing but net – from McGhee’s assist – on the final buzzer to spark a delirium in the gym as Bourg players were mobbed by joyous fans who had gone almost silent as the Lions roared their way back.

Bourg seemed to be cruising after a solid first half and then got brushed aside 10-26 in the third quarter, playing catch-up in the fourth and struggling before the monumental home straight saw them stagger across the finish line in the nick of time.

“I work hard for every moment and I am so grateful I made that shot,” a delighted Moulare said in his postgame comments as he gasped for air and found himself at a loss for words. “We played well in the first half, but they came back and made some crazy shots. We never gave up and stayed in the game because it’s not over until it’s over and we won in the end. I am grateful to be a part of this team and we’ve put in a lot of hard work throughout the season to be in the top two,” the 23-year-old guard added.

Moulare and McGhee sank 17 points each while Both Gach paced Bourg on 19, having also hit some clutch threes when the home team started to struggle on offense. Anthony Labanca and Vincent Mitchell scored 10 apiece as Bourg shot 11 of 29 from deep and 25 of 34 from the line, having lost the battle of the boards 29-37 to an athletic Lions team.

Having asked his men to stay together no matter what in a desperate plea during Bourg’s final timeout, head coach Frederic Fauthoux could not hide his elation after seeing his men claw out the victory from the Lions’ grasp.

Coming off four straight losses on the road, Cluj launched an epic comeback to turn the game into a trade of blows in crunch time. Trey Woodbury scored 16 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, including a clutch triple to bring the guests within 95-94 and a couple of free throws that sent the game to overtime at 96-96.

The victory was enough for Jerusalem to clinch the top spot in Group A and with it a bye in the eighthfinals and Jared Harper wouldn’t let this opportunity slip. Having already netted 8 of his team’s last 13 games in regulation, Harper kept on carrying the team on his shoulders in overtime.

The 28-year-old guard nailed 7 straight points before hitting a couple of free throws that gave his team a 107-102 advantage.

“When I’m able to get into the rhythm like that offensively, I feel like my job is easy, being able to score, draw fouls,” Harper stressed.

Then it was time for Harper to turn from scorer into contributor by setting up Khadeen Carrington for back-to-back triples that practically put the game to bed.

“It felt great \[hitting those threes\],” Carrington said after the game. “I had a hot first half, kinda cooled off, but Harp kinda took over the game, so we just let him do what he does and he found me on two great shots. So it was just my job to knock them down.”

“Tonight’s MVP for me was Austin \[Wiley\],” Harper noted. “He always does a great job rebounding. Tonight, he stepped up and made some big free throws \[in the closing stages of the fourth quarter\]. Glad to have him on my team and glad to have contributions from everybody.”

Having already clinched top spot in Group A, Jerusalem will look to secure the first overall seed by beating Umana Reyer Venice on the road next week. And the way this victory came provides them with both an extra boost in morale following two straight losses, as well as important momentum heading into the playoffs.

“I think that \[this win\] does mean a lot, because you don’t want to be the team that has to play perfect to win,” Harper said. “We saw how we can play really good and take the lead and then the flip, not play as well and give up the lead, but being able to fight through and do what we had to do to win the game. It’s really good, especially for this time of the year, when we get closer to the EuroCup playoffs and being able to play for championships.”

Should they manage the best record in EuroCup, the Israeli side will automatically earn home-court advantage throughout the tournament. Given that they’ve won seven of their nine home games thus far and taking into account that Harper is heading into postseason play in top form, Jerusalem has what it takes to go all the way.

NINERS Chemnitz advanced to the EuroCup playoffs with an 81–67 win over Dolomiti Energia Trento, finishing the night at 9–8 to secure the final Group B berth. Nike Sibande led the way with 25 points, while Roman Bedime added 16. Coach Rodrigo Pastore praised his team’s resilience and togetherness.

Chemnitz powers into postseason with victory over Trento

The stakes were unmistakable – and NINERS Chemnitz met the moment. In the team’s debut BKT EuroCup campaign, the NINERS delivered a composed, fourth‑quarter closeout to defeat Dolomiti Energia Trento 81–67 and clinch postseason basketball. The victory lifted Chemnitz to 9-8, secured the final Group B playoff berth, and ended ratiopharm ulm’s remaining hopes. Trento, already qualified, lost ground in the race for the top positions and will now battle for fifth next week, with Chemnitz still holding an outside chance to climb.

“I’m very proud of our guys,” said Rodrigo Pastore, moments after his team defeated Trento. The Argentine coach firmly stated that his team isn’t there to make up the numbers, praising its spirit and sending out a warning shot to the opposition.

“Circumstances were very difficult from the very beginning, but we never made excuses,” said Pastore. “We had a very good December, but certain situations then put our backs against the wall, but we just came out and we made it happen. We still have a long way and a lot of challenges in front of us, but with this togetherness, with this level of sacrifice, I think we can go a long way.”

For long stretches it was a grind. The home crowd rode every possession through a choppy first half and a blow‑for‑blow third quarter. When it mattered most, Chemnitz carved out the first real separation and held firm down the stretch to win by 14.

“To make it out of this bracket, it is a blessing,” said guard Nike Sibande. “It’s been a goal of ours, we’ve wanted to achieve it all year and we’re thankful for it.”

You could certainly tell that Sibande wanted it. The American guard dazzled to pull his team over the line. Finishing the game with a PIR of 26, Sibande logged 25 points and 5 boards to get the job done. He attributed his performance to the vibrant Messe Chemnitz faithful.

“This crowd has been amazing for us all year. It’s a blessing every game to step onto the court in front of a crowd like this.”

Lietkabelis controlled the momentum from start to finish, with a strong defensive effort and dominance in the paint setting the tone. Fardaws Aimaq was the steady force inside, finishing the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

‘‘For us, every game is super important,’’ said Aimaq after the game. ‘‘We try and approach every game the same way. Obviously, this is the last couple of EuroCup games, for us it’s really important. The club, the players, the city… to do well and finish off strong. So, I think we did that.’’

The hosts relied on efficient scoring throughout the game, building a 10-point lead in the first quarter. The hosts maintained their intensity, turning Panionios’s turnovers into fast-break points to take a 19-point advantage into halftime. Lietkabelis kept that momentum in the second half, never letting the lead slip.

Lietkabelis was efficient from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 three-pointers overall, with 5 coming from Kristian Kullamae, who led the way with 19 points. The hosts finished at 37.0% shooting from deep, with Jamel Morris adding 16 points on 4 triples.

‘‘In general, we played better than the previous game, but our problems are still the same, so we must find the reason why we play so bad,’’ said Coach Nenad Canak, pointing out the games ahead. ‘‘We controlled the game from the very beginning. Entering the night in search of its first road win of the season, Panionios leaned on a short nine-man rotation, which narrowed its offensive choices and limited its ability to respond to Lietkabelis’s aggressive defense. The Greek side committed 14 turnovers and had a tough night from deep, hitting just 4 of 28 from beyond the arc.

Joe Thomasson led the visitors with 16 points, while 19-year-old Greek center Andreas Patrikis stepped up with 9 points and 10 rebounds on a night when Nate Watson was limited by foul trouble.

The Besiktas GAIN Istanbul and Turk Telekom Ankara showdown lived up to its billing with Besiktas surviving an intense battle in the Turkish derby to remain undefeated at home and inch closer to a top-two spot in Group B.

Besiktas managed to pull away in the closing 2 minutes for a 91-81 victory that lifted its record to 12-5 overall and 9-0 at BJK Gain Sports Complex. After the game, Besiktas learned that it had earned a direct place in the quarterfinals when Dolomiti Energia Trento lost.

“It was a good game for both teams. We respect Turk Telekom. We believe they play a very good game. Both teams had chances. In the end, I believe we were a little more focused on some details,” said Besiktas head coach Dusan Alimpijevic.

Besiktas nearly wasted an 11-point lead, but Devon Dotson came up clutch late with 12 of his 22 points in the final 5 minutes. Ante Zizic registered 12 points and 11 rebounds while Brynton Lemar and Jonah Mathews both added 12 points in the win.

“It was a very tough physical game. We won by 10 points. That seems easy, but it was far from that. Turk Telekom played an amazing game. We all did our best and stepped up tonight. It was a very important win for us,” said Zizic.

This was the fourth game between these two teams already with Besiktas winning  77-72 at home in the Turkish League on September 27 and then 84-93 at Turk Telekom in the EuroCup in Round 8 on November 19.

Turk Telekom scored an 87-84 home win in the Turkish League on January 18.

“We showed a lot of clips of the last loss in the Turkish League. That motivated them a lot,” Alimpijevic said.

Both teams were playing tough defense right from the start in an intense battle. Turk Telekom twice was able to open a 6-point lead and led 19-23 after 10 minutes. Besiktas allowed only one basket in nearly the first 4 minutes of the second quarter and went up 28-25. Three baskets from Mathews pushed the cushion to 35-29. The advantage grew to 43-34 and the home side was ahead 43-38 at the break.

Besiktas twice had an 8-point cushion early in the third quarter and never gave up the lead as the visitors pulled within 3 points. Besiktas was ahead 68-60 after 30 minutes.

A Mathews triple to start the fourth quarter extended the margin to double figures for the first time at 71-60. Turk Telekom immediately responded with a 1-11 surge to make it 72-71. Dotson twice hit three-pointers and then 2 free throws for an 84-79 lead with 89 seconds to go.

An unsportsmanlike foul on Jordan Usher resulted in a Zizic free throw and Mathews layup and Besiktas led 87-79 with 58 seconds remaining. Dotson added a jumper to finish off Turk Telekom’s hopes.

Turk Telekom saw its four-game winning streak snapped in falling to 11-6. Jaleen Smith tallied 19 points, Kyle Alexander had 16 points and 6 rebounds and Kyle Allman had 12 points. 

“We fought until the end, but small mistakes and accuracy affected us. We missed 12 free throws and shot 4 of 19 (on three-pointers) and were still in the game in the last 2 minutes. We lost a game that was in our hands, unfortunately. But at the end of the day, this is just one game. Next week we will see where are standing and we will go from there,” said Turk Telekom head coach Erdem Can.

In a one-sided contest, Cedevita Olimpija easily downed Hamburg, 74-88, to move to 11-6 on the season and continue to fight for second place in Group A. Last placed Hamburg’s two-game winning came to an end as it fell to 2-14 for the season. Cedevita took control early and Hamburg struggled to react. The visitors remained in control throughout, tightening their grip down the stretch and eventually securing the 14-point win.

Matthew Hurt was the headline act for the hosts with 15 points and 6 rebounds, inspiring his team to the convincing victory. Umoja Gibson recorded 13 points and 4 dimes and Aleksej Nikolic and Luka Brajkovic both netted 10. Most notably though, Jaka Blazic scored 6 points to become the third highest scorer in EuroCup history with 1,493 career points.

Lietkabelis started the game with strong defense and controlled the paint on offense, opening with a 6-0 run and finishing the first quarter 10 points ahead. The hosts continued to dominate inside in the second quarter, extending the lead to 46-27 by halftime. In the second half, Lietkabelis pushed the advantage to as many as 29 points and maintained control the rest of the way.

Fardaws Aimaq led Lietkabelis with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Kristian Kullamae also scored 19 points. Jamel Morris added 16 points, Michael Flowers contributed 12 points and 4 assists, and Paulius Danusevicius finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. For Panionios, Joe Thomasson led the way with 16 points and 4 rebounds, Nate Watson added 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Andreas Patrikis chipped 9 points and 10 boards.

Jerusalem clinched the top spot in Group A by beating Cluj-114-104 after overtime at Pais Arena. An entertaining back-and-forth affair in the first quarter saw Jerusalem grab a 22-19 lead after 10 minutes. What followed was a dominant second period by the hosts, who increased the intensity on defense to shut down Cluj, which scored just 14 points as the Israeli side took a 48-33 lead at halftime.

Cluj ended the third quarter with a 2-14 surge that cut the difference to 71-60 before a 2-9 run brought the visitors within 83-82 with 3 minutes left on the clock in the fourth. The game turned into an exchange of blows, with Trey Woodbury hitting a couple of free throws that sent it to overtime. Then, Jared Harper took over with 9 points and 2 assists to seal the outcome for the hosts.

Jerusalem improved its record to 13-4, while U-BT Cluj-Napoca is still in the race for a playoff spot despite dropping to 8-9. Harper led all scorers with 30 points, having gone 14-for-16 from the free-throw line. Khadeen Carrington netted 20 points, including 2 big triples in overtime, and Austin Wiley grabbed 17 rebounds to tie the club record. Woodbury bagged a career-high 28 points – 16 of which were scored in the fourth quarter. Patrick Richard had 19 points and Dusan Miletic added 17 in a losing effort.

NINERS defeated Trento 81-67 to clinch a playoff spot.  With the Messe Chemnitz crowd abuzz, the teams fought through a cagey first half, in which neither side could find any sort of rhythm. They went blow-for-blow through most of the third quarter, before Chemnitz created the first notable advantage of the game when it mattered, taking control down the stretch to earn the 14-point victory.

Nike Sibande played the starring role for NINERS, recording 25 points, 5 boards and an assist to help his team progress. Roman Bedime also impressed, logging 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Stuffing the stat sheet elsewhere, Aher Uguak and Jordan Schakel also finished on double digit scoring. In defeat, DJ Steward grabbed 26 points for Trento, which was without star guard Devonte' Jones. 

The already-qualified Trento moves to 10-7 with the loss, missing out on the chance for a top-two finish in the group. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team now holds a winning record, improving to 9-8 and securing postseason action.

Bourg clawed out a huge win from the jaws of defeat and sealed an automatic quarterfinal berth with a game to spare as it produced a 13-2 run in the final 77 seconds of a dramatic contest to edge out the London Lions and improve to 13-4. The game seemed lost for Bourg after the Lions dominated the third quarter 10-26 and romped ahead 73-83 in the home straight, only to see victory slip through their fingers as the British side dropped to 5-12 in Group B.

Both Gach paced Bourg on 19 points while Moulare and Darius McGhee chipped in with 17 apiece, having combined for the home side’s last 9 points. Anthony Labanca and Vincent Mitchell netted 10 each for the French outfit, which shot 11-of-29 from deep. Ethan Price led London on a game-high 21 points, while Tarik Phillip netted 17 and Shavar Reynolds scored 14 for the visitors.

Aris took significant progress toward securing a postseason spot with an 83-62 victory over Neptunas at the Palais de Sports. Although Aris was unable to assert dominance early on, as Neptunas benefited from an impressive performance by Rihards Lomasz — who scored 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting — the hosts led 40-34 at halftime. Following the intermission, Aris enhanced its defensive efforts and, with Bryce Jones leading the offense, established a solid double-digit advantage, 52-36, midway through the third quarter. This margin proved insurmountable for Neptunas for the remainder of the contest.

Aris improved to 8-9 and will fight for a playoff spot next week against U-BT Cluj-Napoca, while Neptunas dropped to 7-10 and lost all hope to make it to the next stage. Bryce Jones and Amine Noua led Aris with 16 points apiece, while Danilo Andjusic scored 14 and Elijah Mitrou Long added 10 for the winners. Neptunas got 19 points from Lomasz, all of them in the first half. He was accompanied by Zane Waterman and Karlis Silins, who provided 12 and 10 respectively in the losing effort.

Reyer booked a spot in the playoffs by beating Manresa 75-91 on the road to snap the home side’s four-game winning streak. Reyer actually had secured a postseason berth during the game when U-BT Cluj-Napoca lost earlier in the evening. Reyer was down by 10 points late in the first half but pulled ahead in the third quarter and then put the game away with a 0-15 fourth quarter run.

Reyer improved to 10-7 with a 3-6 road record and six wins in the last seven games. RJ Cole scored a career high 25 points with 5 assists, Kyle Wiltjer had 15 points and Amedeo Tessitori chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Manresa saw its four game winning streak end for a 10-7 record despite Retin Obasohan scoring 17 points.

Slask pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season by knocking off Bahcesehir 80-82 on the road. That snapped Slask’s eight-game losing streak dating back to November when it beat Bahcesehir and kept the Turkish side - at least temporarily - from locking up a top-two spot in the group. Slask wasted an 11-point lead in the third quarter and fell behind early in the fourth quarter. The Polish team punched back to go ahead by 8 points with 46 seconds to go and only narrowly avoided a heart-breaking loss. 

Kadre Gray collected 19 points and 10 assists, Stefan Dordevic had 17 points and Noah Kirkwood added 13 points as Slask improved to 5-12 - including 1-8 on the road. Malachi Flynn’s 16 points were not enough as Bahcesehir dropped to 11-6. Trevion Williams chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Ending a four-game skid away from home, Buducnost improved to 11-6, while Ulm fell to 7-10. Buducnost opened the game by building a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but Ulm cut the deficit to 4 by the end of the period behind strong three-point shooting. In the second quarter, Ulm erased the gap as Chris Sengfelder scored 7 points in the opening 3 minutes. The first half ended with the score tied 45-45. 

Returning from the break with better shooting efficiency and improved defense, Ulm stretched the lead to 11 in the third quarter. Buducnost responded with a strong push in the fourth quarter, opening on an 8-0 run led by Rasheed Sulaimon. Juwan Morgan recorded 4 steals, while Yogi Ferrell scored 14 of his points in the final 6 minutes to seal the win. 

Ferrell led the way for his team with 23 points and 5 assists, while Rasheed Sulaimon added 22 points and 4 assists. Nikola Tanaskovic finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds, Juwan Morgan recorded 14 points, and Dordije Jovanovic chipped in with 11 points. For Ulm, Chris Ledlum delivered 27 points and 5 rebounds. Mark Smith scored 18, Christian Sengfelder posted 12 points and 9 rebounds, Nelson Weidemann had 11 points, and Justin Simon added 10.
