Alec Peters netted 8 triples for a career-high 33 points
Olympiacos downs ALBA, 92-100, to go top of the pile once more

Olympiacos Piraeus climbed back to the top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings by defeating ALBA Berlin 92-100 on Friday night at Uber Arena. The visitors led by as many as 21 points (19-40) early in the second quarter, but the hosts fought back and took the lead, 90-87, with 2:42 left on the clock. Yet, Olympiacos responded with a 2-13 surge to end its three-game losing slide. The Reds improved their record to 23-10, while ALBA dropped to 5-28.
Alec Peters went 8 for 9 from deep to end the game with a career-high 33 points. Nigel Williams-Goss paired a season-high 22 points with 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals for a career-high PIR of 32, with Sasha Vezenkov adding 18 points. Yanni Wetzell netted a team-high 19 points, and Gabriele Procida and Matt Thomas scored 12 each.

Martin Hermannsson opened the scoring from inside, but a three-point play from Williams-Goss was followed by buckets from Moses Wright and Vezenkov for a 2-7 lead. Kostas Papanikolaou and Peters also opened their accounts to make it 9-18. Yanni Wetzell made the most of Olympiacos’s frontcourt absences and took his tally to 6 points, but triples by Peters and Williams-Goss opened a 13-28 lead. Matt Thomas scored 4 straight points on the other end, but Peters drilled another one and Vezenkov netted inside to make it 17-36 after 10 minutes.
Wetzell netted 5 consecutive points and Jonas Mattisseck drilled a long two that slightly cut the deficit to 24-40. But Giannoulis Larentzakis and Peters answered with back-to-back triples to restore a 26-46 lead. ALBA responded with an 8-2 surge fueled by Procida, who took his tally to 5 points. Yet, Vezenkov and Williams-Goss scored from deep to restore a 34-54 cushion. ALBA replied with back-to-back triples from Thomas and Robert Baker, but 5 points from Larentzakis allowed Olympiacos to maintain a 46-61 lead at halftime.
ALBA opened the third quarter with a 9-4 run, with Wetzell dunking in transition to bring the hosts within 55-65. Peters netted 8 points and Vezenkov scored inside, extending the lead to 57-75. But ALBA fought back, as Will McDowell-White nailed a triple and Justin Bean netted in transition before 3 points from Procida slashed the deficit to 73-80 heading into the closing quarter.
Louis Olinde and Bean drilled one apiece from downtown before an inside score by Wetzell put ALBA ahead, 81-80. Yet, Peters and Vezenkov nailed back-to-back threes to make it 81-86. McDowell-White scored an unlikely basket before 5 straight points by Thomas gave the hosts an 88-86 edge. But Williams-Goss scored a couple of baskets and Peters drilled his eighth triple of the night to put Olympiacos back in front, 90-94. Then, Saben Lee hit 2 free throws to practically seal the outcome.
