He returns to the EuroCup for the first time since the 2018-19 season
Bahcesehir completes move for Mateusz Ponitka
Bahcesehir College Istanbul has announced the signing of Mateusz Ponitka, who has penned a two-year contract at the club.
Ponitka (1.98 meters, 30 years old) spent last season with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, averaging 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 26 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances.
The Polish forward has spent the last five years playing in the EuroLeague, suiting up for Zenit St. Petersburg (2019-22), Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens (2022-23) and then Partizan (2023-24). He also appeared in the competition for Arka Gdynia (2012-13) and Zastal Zielona Gora (2015-16).
Ponitka returns to the BKT EuroCup for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign, when he played for Lokomotiv Kuban. That year, he averaged 9.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals as Lokomotiv made the EuroCup Quarterfinals.
Next season will be his fifth campaign in the EuroCup, as he previously represented Ostend (2013-15), Zastal Zielona Gora (2015-16) and Lokomotiv (2018-19).
