Hapoel Tel Aviv adds scoring ace Marcus Foster
Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv made another aggressive move in building its roster by signing Marcus Foster for the coming season. Foster (1.91 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Rytas Vilnius, which he led to the Lithuanian League championship last season. He was the MVP of the Finals after averaging 20.5 points in the series against Turkish Airlines EuroLeague power Zalgiris Kaunas, including a 33-point effort in the deciding game. Foster shot 15 for 32 from deep in the finals. He was fifth in the league in scoring for the season with 17.0 points per game in addition to 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
In Tel Aviv he reunites with head coach Stefanos Dedas, under whom he played at Hapoel Holon during the 2019-20 season. Foster was second in the Israeli League in scoring that season with 20.2 points per game on 42.3% three-point shooting.
After playing college basketball at Kansas State University and Creighton University, Foster began his professional career in Korea with Wonju DM Promy. After a brief spell in Lebanon with Champville, he played for Holon in Israel, Panathinaikos Athens and Promitheas Patras in Greece, Turk Telekom Ankara in Turikye, Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G-League and Shandong Heroes in China. He was the top scorer in the Basketball Champions League in 2022-23 with 20.6 points per game.
