Hapoel Tel Aviv signs teenage talent Noam Yaacov
Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv has signed promising young guard Noam Yaacov, who comes off his debut Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. Yaacov (1.86 meters, 19 years old) averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 assists over 10:03 minutes in 26 EuroLeague appearances. He also tallied 3.8 points and 2.6 assists in 32 French League games.
Born in Denmark, Yaacov moved to Israel at age 13 and began his career with Hapoel Emek Hefer. ASVEL signed him in 2021, when he was just 16, and he played with the club’s junior team at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament as well as with the youth teams in the first two seasons. Yaacov was sent on loan to Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem in second half of the 2022-23 campaign. He helped Jerusalem win the Israeli Cup.
Yaacov has also played with Israel’s national teams at the junior and senior levels. In the summer of 2023, he led Israel to the silver medal at the FIBA U20 European Championship in Crete. He led the tournament in assists (7.6 apg.) and was named to the all-tournament team.
"Noam is one of the most talented players in Europe," Hapoel general manager George Hinas said. "He has a great passion for the game of basketball and a great love for our club, where he will have the opportunity to continue to improve his abilities by playing at the highest levels that we aim for."
