The shooting guard set personal bests in scoring, three-pointers and PIR in Wednesday's win over Hapoel.
March's performance bodes well for Prometey in March

It was a banner night for Prometey Slobozhanske on Wednesday with a 105-113 win over Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv in Belgrade, Serbia. The win clinched a playoff ticket for head coach Ronen Ginzburg's squad for the second year running. Now, with two regular season games remaining, Prometey can begin thinking about the next stage and the bright performance of shooting guard Ronald March surely gives the team plenty of reasons for optimism.
March started his scoring splurge early
Last season Prometey went all the way to the EuroCup Semifinals as newcomers to the competition and the club has eight players from that team on the current roster. Those holdovers combined for 77 of the points Prometey scored against Hapoel. Tai Odiase and March scored the rest.
March exploded for a career-high 27 points on 4 of 7 three-point shooting. He also tallied 4 rebounds and 4 assists in amassing a PIR of 29. Not too shabby for a guy who entered the game averaging 12.7 points on 37.0% three-point shooting, 2.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and a PIR of 11.6.
He staked Prometey to an early lead with a trio of three-pointers in the first quarter. He was still perfect from deep when he made his 4th triple, early in the second quarter. March was up to 18 points with his team down 1 entering the fourth quarter. Then the shooting guard went wild, leading a game-deciding 2-14 charge with 5 points.
Improvement throughout rookie EuroCup season
The type of explosive performance March had against Hapoel is a positive sign for Prometey as it looks ahead.
"March came from a small club and it took him time to adjust, defensively in particular, but he is improving from game to game," Ginzburg said in the post-game press conference.
Indeed, March spent the past three seasons with French club Roanne and was second only to Victor Wembanyama in scoring in the French league last season with 21.4 points per game.
This season, his first in the EuroCup, has seen March provide plenty of explosive nights. In his 16 appearances, he has netted at least 20 points four times and had at least 14 on nine occasions. March also has had four games where he failed to score more than 6 points.
March's best may be yet to come
After the game March was all "we" and no "me" when asked about his game: "We buckled down, turned the pressure up and got a lot more physical with them," he said of the team's second-half defense. "And then on offense, executed a little bit more, got the ball inside and just played together."
Ginzburg said that he believes March is now on a path that can bring him to new heights: "He is also changing his personality and he can get to the highest levels. He just needs to be more consistent," the coach explained.
The remaining regular season games are a great opportunity for March and Prometey to find that consistency. And if March is able to find it by March, when the BKT EuroCup Playoffs begin, Prometey can surely be a force to be reckoned with.
