He reached the EuroCup Semifinals in his only previous season in the competition
Valencia adds center Matt Costello
Valencia Basket signed veteran center Matt Costello to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Costello (2.10 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he played the last three seasons. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 33 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season as he helped Baskonia reach the playoffs.
Costello played college basketball at Michigan State University and helped lead the Spartans to the 2015 NCAA Final Four. He started his professional career with the Iowa Energy in the G League and also played for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA as well as the Austin Spurs in the G League.
He first came to Europe in 2018 to play for Sidigas Avellino in Italy and the following season made his EuroCup debut with Gran Canaria in Spain. Costello has also been a member of the Ivory Coast national team, which he helped to a silver medal at AfroBasket 2021.
