Valencia brings in center Ethan Happ
Valencia Basket has bolstered its frontcourt with the signing of center Ethan Happ, who arrives from fellow Spanish and BKT EuroCup side Dreamland Gran Canaria.
Happ (2.08 meters, 28 years old) made his EuroCup debut with Gran Canaria last season. He started in 16 of his 17 appearances. Happ averaged 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds. His 2.4 offensive rebounds per game were 11th-most in the competition. Happ also produced 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals, the latter of which was eighth-best in the EuroCup.
Prior to his time with Gran Canaria, the American played a season in Spain with Rio Breogan Lugo. In the 2022-23 campaign, he ranked second in the Spanish League in rebounds (7.9 rpg.) and steals (1.9 spg.).
Happ had a standout college career at the University of Wisconsin, where he averaged 17.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 blocks in 34 NCAA games in the 2018-19 season, his senior year in college.
He started his professional career with Olympiacos Piraeus and made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut there, making one 45-second appearance. Happ then moved to Italian side Vanoli Basket Cremona, and also played for Lavoroplu Fortitudo Bologna and Banco di Sardegna Sassari of Italy, as well as for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of Germany.
