He brings in valuable BKT EuroCup experience
Wolves add playmaker Anthony Cowan
Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius strengthened its backcourt by inking point guard Anthony Cowan to a one-year deal, the club announced Wednesday.
Cowan (1.83 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Promitheas Patras, where he averaged 14.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 28 Greek League games this season, his second with that team. He made his EuroCup debut with Promitheas in the 2022-23 campaign, averaging 12.3 points on 41.4% three-pointers and 5.0 assists in 20 games, helping Promitheas reach the quarterfinals. Cowan earned back-to-back MVP of the Round honors in Regular Season Rounds 16 and 17, leading Promitheas to consecutive wins with a PIR of 34 against the London Lions and a PIR of 38 against Paris Basketball. Once Cowan finished his college career with the University of Maryland, he went on to play for Memphis of the G League and Aris Thessaloniki of Greece before joining Promitheas.
"We wanted to get an offensive player in our ranks who is a good finisher, can create for himself, and also involve his teammates in the game. Anthony has proven this well while playing in the Greek Championship and European tournaments, where he has recently been among the leaders in both points and assists," Wolves sports director and former EuroCup winner Donatas Zavackas said. "We have been watching this basketball player for some time, so we are glad that we finally managed to invite him to our team."
